At the bottom center of the page is a link to something called the "lo-fi" version of CigarPass. I've been wondering if anyone actually uses this. I come in through a dialup connection at home and most times I am at 28.8. I've gotten used to the speed of the regular site but the lo-fi version is so stripped down it's very fast even at 28.8. The exceptions being photos linked in people's posts.

So has anyone else tried this out?

I have tried it out but did not enjoy it as navigation becomes to difficult. To remain relatively inconspicuous at work, in my controls menu / board options, I remove signatures, avatars, and all images. I assume this would help speed it up while still keeping the basic layout the same.

BTW, this is why I check out people's profiles a lot - because I never see their avatars / signatures otherwise.

Ahh,

Right on. I leave avatars up but disable sigs. Since avatars are limited to 120 pixels, that usually gets folks to make them small...except that one time, a guy had a 1.3MB animated GIF as his avatar.

28.8 ouch. I'm sure you've heard it plenty of times before but its time to upgrade bro. A lot of phone and cable company's are offering great packages. Once you go hi-speed you'll never go back.

I hear ya, but an extra $99 a month isn't really in the cards. Not when big sister's Montessori is going to cost $4,800 this fall.

If I need to do high-speed work, I can head into campus and get 2MB speeds so there's always that.

I'm going to wait it out until I graduate and then wife and I have agreed that we'll go digital with the HDTV, cable/dish, broadband, the whole nine. Until then, we're living small.

I've used it with my pocket pc and smart phones.
Same here. I use this with all my fancy pant cellphones I have in the office. So when people ask, "So how's the browser on that new phone?" I can say with confidence "I feel you can use it for all the important things" .
