In starting this thread of discussion, I would just like to point out that by no means is it my intention to offend any women cigar smokers-quite the contrary. this is just a tongue in cheek question since I've noticed that the vast majority of cigar smokers are typically men.

What is it with women and cigars anyway?????

Is there anyone out there whose better half gives them hell for collecting and/or smoking cigars??

I for one have no such problems. I will smoke any of my cigars when I want(as long as it's outside) and I will buy any cigar I want(as long as it's o.k. with her) I will come home late any time I desire if I'm out smoking with my buddies(I'll be sleeping on the couch) and I reserve the right to order $500.00 worth of cigars over the internet if I so desire(if I desire to be divorced)

All this being said, my wife is not against my cigar collecting, she's even buying me a humidor for my birthday. God bless the woman. At worst, she is tepid about my new hobby. At best, she is learning to deal with it(because I said so)

Now if you don't mind, I have a cake in the oven that I have to tend to :D

Whoo! This is the one area I can definitely brag about...

My wife:

- Usually shared a few puffs from any cigar I smoke;
- Has no issues with me smoking inside of our living room (I crack the window 2 inches in the winter, or open it completely in the summer - that's it);
- Neither knows nor cares what I buy in general (including cigars), so long as it doesn't affect our ability to pay the bills;
- Gives me a high-five when I find a good deal on a hard-to-find box of ISOM's; and
- Does all this while still being way out of my league in terms of beauty and brains...

The only thing we've ever discussed on the topic is that we've agreed that the smoking (not collecting or buying - just smoking itself) not exceed a certain cap. She just wouldn't want to see them become a detriment* to my health... (Actually, I think I brought up the idea of the cap myself - but I'm pretty sure she'd 'call time-out' if I started huffing away too many of them).

Cheers,

- Oak

* Anyone have access to any information or reputable studies that discuss the health risks of a truly casual cigar smoker (7-8 a month - as opposed to a daily smoker)? I'm wondering if I'm being totally unrealistic in assuming that a couple a week doesn't provide a significant health risk (I know any amount of tobacco causes some health risk - so the word "significant" is very subjective - but y'all probably take my meaning/point).

My wife bought me my first humidor. She doesn't like the smell of the majority of cigars I smoke. i can't smoke inside, nor do I woant to. I sit out on the porch or in the Garden. My wife will come outside and sit with me or do her gardening. If I join her, I ask her if she minds if I have a smoke. She usually doesn't mind, so I grab something non-offending. But I always grab what I want if I beat her out there.
My wife has no idera how much I spend on cigars or shipping charges incurred here or at other boards. She knows not to spend less than $5 or more than $12 on a cigar for me in the local shop. I did hurt her feelings when she wanted her mom to buy me a box of Cubans from overseas. I told her about counterfeits, and how her mom doesn't know how to care for cigars for shipping or humidification. So I didnt get a box of cigars. But she was thankful she didn't buy them, and me be disappointed getting a box of damaged and dry cigars.

Theres Jolly, post padding again :)

My wife thinks I spend too much but since it is "my*" money doesn't say too much. I only smoke outdoors or in the garage unless it is New Years or my birthday and then I smoke in the house. She would like it if I smoked every other day but, again, doesn't say much about my one a day habit.

(*We both toss 75% of our checks into the joint account. The 25% left over is for each of us to spend as we want.)

You keep stabbing all potential significant others in the neck? Can't train them on using suppositories? :sign:

(Cheap shots I know - but you should be proud you've trained another CPasser to memorize your catch phrases... ;) )

My other half smokes cigars herself - and considering she has pretty expensive tastes - I rarely get any **** for ordering - matter of fact it is common for me just to mention a deal and her tell me to jump all over it LOL.

heh, yeah.

i dunno. i tried to get this one girl into cigars, but they all find it stinky.
and i've never had any girlfriends... it's that veird?

Like I said before I'm the lucky one. I smoke in the house, she loves to shop and if it's a sale or a deal she can't resist also she finds cigars intresting, but doesnt smoke them. But thats ok that' what she has me for :p .
My first humidor and my new 600 count were both presnts from her. :love:
along with two tickets to JRsMeadowlands in March!
Damm I must be doing something right ........ I just wished I knew what it was? :thumbs:
Then again we will be going on to AtlanticCity afterwards for a few days of gambling, so its still gonna cost me. and then theres Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun on the ride home north.

eventually

Most women do seem to have an aversion to cigars. I guess they only smell good to me :D It kind of bums me out because at my club damn near every gal in there smokes cigarettes but they all seem to think cigars are the worst thing they ever smelt. Since I started smoking cigars I've had one girlfriend that liked them. She even smoked one herself occasionally. Other then that no luck.

India Allen says she will only date a cigar smoker. I seriously doubt there are many more like her :(

When I head out to Bars/Clubs/Ect. I leave the stogies at home. I can't get one chick with a stogie in my mouth. Lose the stogie and I get a few more bites.......I don't know what it is. If they smoke cigarettes then why wouldnt QUALITY Tobacco smell good?

Beats the hell outa me.

It was the wife of a friend of mine, which brought me over to the dark side. Started me out on a couple of Macanudos. :p

Now I supply her with some nice smokes when we all go out.

My wife puts up with my buying cigars and smoking outside (my decision). She will join me out on the lanai for some conversation.

She has even purchased cigar accessories for my birthday.

My girlfriend hates the smell and the fact that I buy so many. She did break down and buy me an Opus X "A" when I took her to Disneyworld. She doesn't mind me smoking them outside but doesn't like it inside (so I guess I should stop that). Oh yeah she complains about it in the car too!

Damnit! That's exactly what I've eperienced. Oh well, I'm not giving up my stogz :love:

My wife was not to happy when I said I was wanting to try cigars and see what I thought about them. She was really not happy when I began a small purchasing habit and purchased a humidor. Threats of violence were issued when I cracked a joke about smoking in the house.

Now, just a mere few weeks into my new habit, she meets me at the door when I come in from smoking a stick and is immediately kissing me and inhaling deeply the wonderful aroma. She even suggested smoking a cigar in the house would not be a problem.

She might be a keeper after all..... :D

I guess i am lucky. The wife bought me my first humidor. She does not like the aroma of my smokes therefore I must smoke outside or in my car. She bought me cigars for my birthday last year. She rarely complains on the money I spend on my hobby. Guess I have it pretty good. :love:

Glad you posted Phil, There is nothing I hate more than going out to my fav. bar to enjoy a few drinks and have to put up with the 15 to 20 women constantly hitting on me . Its cigars to the bar for me from now on :sign: :sign: :sign:

Now seriously my cigars are one thing my wife doesnt seem to mind, she is even supportive of it , No smokeing in the house or cars but she doesnt mind me going to Gibs. house 3 or 4 times a week. :D
