Cigars you DONT Smoke?

So I've been doing some trading on here and starting to build my collection a bit. I've been keeping track of my progress with an Excel Sheet on my computer. What I've traded, with whom, what did I send them in return, and a description of the Cigar. For Example an Arturo Fuente Don Carlos #2. I also have a bunch of them linked to Info on this site about reviews pertaining to the individual stick, for reference.

As I was looking thru all of them, there are some that I only have one of, and there are a few that I have obtained quite a few of **cough cough short story**

But anyways, I've gotten one Padron Millenium and when I did some reading on it, it looks like its a some what rare smoke. I figured a smoke like this I would want to just hang onto and not smoke, at least until I manage to get another somewhere.

But my question is, do you guy have any sticks that you refuse to smoke for one reason or another??? I'd like to hear which ones and why.

oh boy! you're Lucky you have quite a few Short Stories on hand. My box order of those are on backorder for god knows how long.

I won't smoke my AF Between the Lines until I can secure a few more. I would only smoke that on a special occasion. It might not be in the same league as your Padron Millenium but I think those are special.

Yeah, I have an Opus-X Reserva D'Chateau that was purchased in 2000 (a gift from a BOTL on this board) that I am saving for my oldest son's graduation from collage. He is just a sophomore in High School now. So I figure by 2012, it will be one hell of a smoke.
Then there are the two Hemingway BTL’s that will be smoked when each boy graduates from High School.

-2 Regalos from my daughters birth 8 years ago... waiting for her and I in the future.
-1 Opus valued at $150 last I checked.
I have several sticks of various brand aging 3-5 years now.

Hey now. Those are great smokes with a cup of strong coffee.

Anywho, I've got a Motecristo White sitting in a humi that I cannot bare to smoke. It was way too expensive and I only have one. So it sits beneath the glass, always staring back at me. Mocking me.

I also have a box of HdM Excalibur Royal Sterlings and a box of Punch Rare Corojos that I refuse to smoke. They cost more than $2 a stick and go in my "expensive" category. Same with all my Gurkhas.

Also, I refuse to smoke my Rosa Cubas and Riatas because they are nasty. They have a special place at the bottom of a coolerdor. Hopefully they'll be good in the year 2020.

Unless it was made as art like a Football or Bat cigars are made to be smoked. My Padron Millenium, the last of the 3 I had, is going on the 27th for example.

I had a cuban crafters white label (don't remember the specifics) - just terrible, it tasted like ass. I also had a Nat Sherman (I believe metropolitan??), it left a taste in my mouth for a couple of days that I couldn't shake. Never again will I put one of these in my humi or mouth ever again! ;)

I feel a little guilty about it, but my entire non-ISOM coolidor goes untouched. Those sticks are for trading, passes, and collecting.

Amen, you never know what tomorrow will bring. Of course you age them and collect some rare ones, but when they come of age; the deserve to be smoked.

Yeah, one or two.

Of course most of my recent acquires (since participating @ CP) are absolute wonders of diverse profiles & complexity that one could only dream off.

Daily I go through the list of cigars and almost ALL are there for consumption, but there is always the dilemma which one would make for an optimal smoke. In that case there are always those that "wouldn't mind some more age on them!". Mostly rare (for me at least) ISOM'd & EL's that only seem to get better whit AGE!

So something that rare hasn't yet made it to me to feel that secure! :sign:

I have a few cigars ISOM's from the 1970's that have been in there for a while. A couple were gifts, the others I purchased. They are all getting smoked at the right time. One will be my birthday this year.

Thanks for the Replys. I've also got a 5 pack of those Punch rare Corojos, but all I've heard is that they get better with age. So those are my first pack that I bought and are getting aged.

I have an Opus A stll sealed from last year that I'm going to hang on to for a while. Also have an Opus Maduro and a specially made Padron that I have to pick a great occassion to light up.

The Padron was made for a local club's anniversary. Supposedly a 64 blend with a 26 wrapper. Has a 64 label on it.

Other than that, everything is fair game.

I have a bunch of un released Opus that I only have one of so unless I get another, they won't be smoked. I also have a 1940's Upmann Lonsdale from Cuba I won't smoke . I have three pipe shaped cigars from Cuba so I'll probably smoke one some day.
