Clensing the palete

I'll have to try the pickled ginger

The past two days I've been making my way through a jar of pickled peperoncini. I don't recommend it. Takes the cigar flavour out off your mouth but subsequent puffs end up tasting like tangy dirt.

Sadly, I know what dirt tastes like.

Water works for me.

In response to theorangeman as to cleansing the palate after eating spicy food (which is pretty much all I eat): I've found the best way to clear the palate of the spiciness and burn is to eat yogurt, ice cream, kefer or some other heavy dairy product. Milk works but the thicker the substance the longer and more complete it covers the taste buds and works to neutralize the acids in the peppers.

Those little listerene strips work pretty good...but got to warn you that you should not take one right after smoking. Damn near caught my tounge on fire.
"Cleansing the palate" refers to preparing the taste buds so they can taste properly. It's not to get rid of an aftertaste. Often it's done with no aftertaste at all. Acidic drinks restore the taste buds well, BTW. OJ, soda water(citric acid, carbonic acid).

But don't try to drink swimming pool PH acid or battery acid! :p
