I sent some inquiries out but here's what I'm thinking. Padron maduro 2000 or londres, HdM dark sumatra, Oliva G maduro short ones, AF Short Stories. I have some stash burning a hole in my pocket!

Kevin,

My first box purchase was Padron 2000. They are a great go to smoke and just get better with age.

I also bought a box of Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente Sun Grown on Devil Doc's recommendation...these are some of the most tasty smokes I've had to date. Pricing is very good also...availabilty is the problem.

You will get lots of differant answers as you know but IMHO a box of Padron 2000 is like having some Johnny Black in your liquor cabinet...you just can't go wrong with them

My first box purchases were Padron 2000 Maduro, AF 858 Maduro, and A. Fuente Short Story. All of them less than $100 so not only are they tasty and dependable sticks but I didn't have to spend a ridiculous amount to acquire them.

I've decided that my first box purchase will be the Padron 2000 Maduro. Seems to me like a great smoke for a good price.

Another vote for 2000 maddies. For the price you can't go wrong, everyone likes them, and they won't kill your wallet.

Seems everyone loves Padrons! It's funny how God works, last week I spent my last bit on some of Swissy's DPG Blues. Friday a friend needed help with tree and now I'm box shopping!!!

Why not just got with Padron 1926s?

While the 1926 Padrons are great, the Padron 2000 is an amazing bargain. 1926 costs almost 3 times what the x000 series go for. Especially for a first box purchase, Padron 2000 is too tempting not to.

edit for typo.

My first box purchase was a box of Padron 5000's. If you look at all of these posts, the 2000 comes up every time...take that for what it's worth.

Any of the Padron X000's are a great choice. Short Stories are great smokes too, but can be spendy if your not careful ( *Hint:PM a one of the fine retailer/member here *)

For my money, if your looking for a good every cheaper smoke, Sancho Panza Double Maduro. In my mind this is the pinnacle of 2-3 dollar cigar. I literally have smoked more these than I can remember. I have had a couple that were mediocre and a large number that have blown me away (for the price range). I can't ever remember having one that is truly terrible and at a price less than most factory seconds I don't think you can go wrong.

I'm currently smoking a Padron 2000 Maduro and this definitely reaffirms my advice for this to be your first box. This thing is just great. Not the prettiest cigar in the world but it's definitely tasty!

Wow, what a day watching the forum!!! There's been a lot of cool threads I've watched today. This one was very informative. I've contacted the person who PM'd me back first and they will be sending me a nice box of Padron 2000 maduro's. I had a 3000 tonight as the local B&M was out of 2000's. This really firmed up my decision for me. There are a few people I like to share some smokes with and this will be a good box for that as well as the first actual box of cigars I've ever bought!!! No I don't have a cooler but I sure could use one

I'd go with the Padron 2000 maddies.

My first box was a box of the Padron 3000 maddies so I'm a bit biased.

Another reason to go with the 2000 maddies - the box is cool!

Great presentation all around so when you open it you can honestly say, "WOW"!

Fuente also has a great look. They are spanish cedar in the Hemmingway line, too. Short Storys will run about $40 more the the padron 2000s, though.

From a functional standpoint, if you store at 65% the Padrons are ideal; at 70%, the Fuentes.
