That's actually pretty close! An excellent guess! I believe they are in the same Division (Lycopodiophyta). Both produce fossils common in coal deposits.

I spent over an hour on google image search and wikipedia.

I grew up not far from coal mining country (strip mining). Some of those things were massive; 10 feet or so in diameter! They were everywhere.
