CP's "Cigar 101" Newbie Pass 5

Raises hand

Teacher I need the Dunce Cap!

I was in a little too much of a hurry to pack that box back up and the Casa Manga I included is actually "the cigar of the year" ROBUSTO, no DBl Toro...So sorry for that folks. I am glad it was just an extra put.

So I will sit in the corner where Los the special kid is and flick boogers at him.

Ahhh now you have to spend lunch hour in study hall and write 1,000,000 times, "I am an awesome BOTL".

Ok, this was harder than I hoped it would be. After quite a bit of research it looks like I have a couple to post for approval. Here it goes.

T: #10 CAO Sopranos Soldier (10.00).
P: #76 Montecristo White Label Rothschild (10.01)

T: #50 Illusione MJ12 (6.79).
P: #77 DPG Blue Fundadores (7.22)

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Dave, care to give a price breakdown on the MJ12? I came up with $7.64 through CigarCyclopedia.

I might have read the wrong line. I'll double check and fix it if necessary.

Edit: Saw what I did there, divided by the wrong number of cigars per box. Good catch Ben.

I'll keep working on my second P/T, how does the first one look?

I got $10.61 on the CAO and $8.00 on the Monte. Can you post how you got the prices on these as well?

Man, I'm batting a thousand... :(

Ok, I used cigarcyclopedia for all my prices.

CAO Sopranos Soldier (20 count box) 207.95 + 213.95 + 213.95 + 214.95 + 210.00 = 1000.80 / 5 = 200.16 / 20 = 10.008 = $10.01

(Edit: I just copied down what I had in my notes from my first attempt. I re-added and came up with 1060.80 for a total. 212.16 / 20 = 10.61)

For the Monte I used the 25 count box because there were more price options listed.
200.95 + 202.00 + 201.95 + 191.25 + 204.27 = 1000.27 / 5 = 200.054 / 25 = 8.01....

Ok, used the wrong box count on that one too. I guess Sunday is not my day to do math. And back to square one I go.

So, since those are out, lets try another one.

T: #70 Casa Magna Robusto (5.21)
P: #76 CAO L'Anniversaire Maduro Robusto (5.43)

Casa Magna: NH Cigars 129.99, CigarPlace 130.95 (27 count box), TexCigars 27.99 (fiver).
129.99 + 130.95 = 260.94 / 2 = 130.47 / 27 = 4.83
27.99 / 5 = 5.59
5.59 + 4.83 = 10.42 / 2 = 5.21

CAO L'Anniversaire Maduro (20 count box):
93.70 + 109.95 + 129.95 + 89.00 + 129.95 + 89.00 + 129.95 + 97 = 868.5 / 8 = 108.56 / 20 = 5.43

I'll keep working to find something else to submit for approval.

Ok, and for my second P/T...

T: #50 Illusione MJ12 (8.48)
P: #77 Montecristo Media Noche Edmundo (8.76)

Illusione: (20 count box) 152.95 + 178.00 + 178.00 = 508.95 / 3 = 169.65 / 20 = 8.48

Monte Media Noche: (20 count box) Cigar.com 175.95, CI 175.00, Tinderbox.com 175.00, cheaphumidors.com 175.00.
175.95 + 175.00 + 175.00 + 175.00 = 700.95 / 4 = 175.24 / 20 = 8.76

So to recap my new P/T's.

T: #70 Casa Magna Robusto (5.21)
P: #76 CAO L'Anniversaire Maduro Robusto (5.43)

T: #50 Illusione MJ12 (8.48)
P: #77 Montecristo Media Noche Edmundo (8.76)

I sure hope these look a little better! Please let me know what you think.

BTW, I had a delivery notification that the pass has arrived. I'll be stopping at the post office in the morning to pick it up.

Picked up the pass this morning. On a quick inspection before heading to work everything looked good. Humidity in one of the boxes was a little high so I left it cracked open a little bit and will check it again at lunch. Some nice looking stuff in there!!! :D

Wonder what's going on with that box with the higher humidity levels? The pics with the shipping contents look like more than enough beads to handle 39 sticks. I think the seal on that lock-n-lock may be pinched.

When it gets to me, I have an extra 39-cup lock-n-lock (never used yet) that may be able to hold all the sticks for it's return leg to you other gentlemen. If not, I'll change out the beads with my own stock.

Last resort, expanding foam

I think it will be ok, it was only at 75%, and has come down a couple % since this morning. The other one was holding strong at 72%. We'll have to see how it goes from here but I didn't notice anything that made me worried when I looked at the sticks. Still haven't had time for a full examination though. ;)

Along the same lines, would it be better to have the ziplock bags (not necessarily the single bags) opened or cracked a little bit so the humidity exchange can happen more readily? Or is that a pass no-no?? I know the exchange happens anyway but thought it may help remedy the problem.

Greg, what % beads are in there, 65 or 70?

Beads are 65% and were sprayed down fairly heavily before leaving here. Just put the beads in a separate ziploc, seal it up, and pack them outside the lock n' locks if needed.

So what's everyone think about the Take/Puts?

I'm good with Dave's prices.

I like how you used the 5-pack price for the Casa Magna robusto, there are hardly any box prices available for this smoke.

Thanks Dave. I wasn't sure if I should use that or not, but given that it was one of the few prices I could find I figured I'd better include it.
