CP's "Cigar 101" Newbie Pass 5

Ok, and for my second P/T...

T: #50 Illusione MJ12 (8.48)
P: #77 Montecristo Media Noche Edmundo (8.76)

Illusione: (20 count box) 152.95 + 178.00 + 178.00 = 508.95 / 3 = 169.65 / 20 = 8.48

Monte Media Noche: (20 count box) Cigar.com 175.95, CI 175.00, Tinderbox.com 175.00, cheaphumidors.com 175.00.
175.95 + 175.00 + 175.00 + 175.00 = 700.95 / 4 = 175.24 / 20 = 8.76

So to recap my new P/T's.

T: #70 Casa Magna Robusto (5.21)
P: #76 CAO L'Anniversaire Maduro Robusto (5.43)

T: #50 Illusione MJ12 (8.48)
P: #77 Montecristo Media Noche Edmundo (8.76)

I sure hope these look a little better! Please let me know what you think.

BTW, I had a delivery notification that the pass has arrived. I'll be stopping at the post office in the morning to pick it up.

We're going to call these all good, you're ready to go with shipping this thing out unless you have any more T/Ps.

Nope, that's it for me. I wish I had the sticks to do a couple more but it just wasn't in the cards. Tomorrow (I guess today) is shaping up to be a busy one, so I think that Friday is the earliest that I can get this out.

Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in this excellent experience!!

I'm wondering how you got the price for the Padilla, Mike?

Hmm. Thanks for asking. At the time I ran a quick search to see what I could find online and somehow came up with that as a per-stick amount. Well, they're on sale now. So I reran the numbers.

CI & Tinder box: 59.95 (sale) $100 non-sale
Executive Gift shoppe: 69.90

59.95+59.95+69.90 = 189.80 / 3 = $63.27 / 20 = $3.16 per stick.

How about this?

T: #4 Short Story $4.80
P DPG Firecracker $5.00

T: #52 Custa Rey Centenario pry #9 $5.15
P: DPG Cuban Classic 1979 Robusto $5.63*

*107.95+ 123.95 +107.99+ 123.95+ 108.95+ 105.95 +109.95 = $788.69 / 7 = $112.67 / 20 =$5.63

T: #1 AF Anejo No. 49 $10.50
P: Cohiba Extra Vigaroso 652 $10.49

T: #41 Padron 1926 #35 $10.70

Mike, didn't mean for you to remove the Achilles, I didn't even know there were on sale.

I think as long as we justify our price breakdown at the time we should be able to stand by the P/T. What are the rules about the timing of sale prices versus normal? Sale prices are even below MSRP and will throw our numbers awry.

Any input on how this is done in a pass?

I don't think that the Cohiba at a cent less then the Anejo which as i lot more rarity is an expectable P/T

It's all good.

I researched about thirty sticks for puts, and I knew at the time that things would change by the time it got to me. I was happy to see that the other ones I reran today were still spot on.

I would think that when questioned the person should have to prove the worth they placed on the cigar. If prices changed, the pfoor is that the price is now different, regardless of the direction the price went. Just my $.02

p.s. Just installed Windows 7 64bit, and I don't have a spell checker yet. Could be scary for a while. :0

I second that the rarity on the Anejo is not matched by the Cohiba. My .02

Ok, I'll pull that one. What about a Tat T110 put? A little less MSRP ($10), but arguably more rare (only 200 boxes made)?

I also have a Sol Cubano Artisan @ $10.97. Not as rare, but a higher MSRP.

Finding the "perfect" match between rarity and price is not as easy as I thought it would be. Especially with cigars not readily available.

This is probably the hardest part of the passes. I would let go with the T110 because there is a good chance a lot of guys have never had one. That said there is a good chance a lot of guys can't pony up to it later in the pass either

How is this for a question. Is the Anejo somewhat rare, but not too rare? Is the T110 more rare?

The T110 was $225 a box so $9 a stick. Of course a number of folks paid a little more for shipping/fees, I know I did ($240ish), so we could bump it up to around $10 a stick. It definitely has rarity as I'm sure all the boxes are now sold, so none available for purchase. But, the Anejo 49 has MSRP $10.50, and as with the T110, many pay above this amount if you include shipping/fees.

Pope Quiz!
Is the T110 more rare than the Anejo? If so, would it be enough to reach the slightly higer price of the Anejo? If yes, what factors make the T110 more rare and/or the Anejo less?

You have five minutes to complet the quiz. :D

When you say Pope I assume you mean me!

Just kidding. The fact that Anejo come out every year and are widely distributed makes them much easier to obtain than a cigar released only in Hawaii.

I second what Nash said. Also the T110 is supposed to have been a one time deal but as we all know with Pete....they are bound to reappear somewhere down the line. But as far as right now, I would say the T110 is rarer than that Anejo 49 and would be a feasible exchange. Now if the Anejo had some age to it, different story

I agree with Los. Anejo is a production cigar, though a small production it is still in production. The T110 is a true limited release (for the moment  ). What makes it as worthy is that you cannot go out and buy one of these still (see my Oliva and El T P/T). In that case the El T is also limited but can still be purchased. The T110 is going to be much harder to buy, probably even then the Anejo. Thus an added value to the T110, making it a guessing equal to the Fuente. This of course is all IMOP.

Edit: Reading back I just got long winded about what Nash said :sign:

Hi Everyone. I took the pass to the post office today and got it sent out. I just wanted to let everyone (and you specifically Mike) know that you might want to repackage this into a smaller box (or cut down the current one) if you are going to use USPS. Sadly it's my only option or I would have walked out today... Because the current box is 19" in one of the dimensions shipping came to $36.20 with the DC. I believe the lady said that if it was under 17" it would be substantially cheaper, but I can't remember for sure. Something to look into for sure. I almost left and repackaged it myself, but I really wanted to get this out today, and don't have time for that at the moment. Please don't read this as a complaint, just a heads up.

Anyway, it's on the way to you Mike.
