Well, this is my first post after introducing myself - thanks to all who sent welcome messages. I don't feel up to doing an actual review of a cigar yet, but wanted to see if anyone else has any experience with this cigar. I'm copying this directly from the Holt's website:

The brand new Zeppelin size is a Holt's exclusive. It is a blimp-like perfecto with a chunky 62-ring gauge and an oily marbleized Maduro wrapper. Since it's debut in January, the Zeppelin has firmly established itself as a fan-favorite and a bestseller!

Country of Origin: Honduras
Flavor: Medium to Full
Wrapper: Honduran
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Dominican

I got four of these as a gift and tried to smoke one earlier this evening. Well, it was terrible - it didn't burn right, the wrapper cracked and it tasted pretty terrible. I put it out before I was close to being half done. Further info - I got this with an assortment of other cigars and a humidor from Holt's about a week ago. Thanks to the help on this site, I was able to set up the humidor properly. Just wondering if anyone has had this cigar and what they thought. Maybe just one bad one?

Thanks again - and sorry for making my first post so long.

No, Sorry I have not tried that yet. Did not know it was out actually. However, The Robusto Cuba ALiados is my little dark secret of a cheap cigar that hits all the right notes when I want one.

It could've been misstored along the way. If you have any more park them in th humi and let them settle in, or it could have been a dud, it does happen occassionally

Welcome to CP.

i havent smoked the zeppelin, but i did smoke alot of the other less expensive CA lines, which were mild and good. For me, they are cheap enough that i can't really complain. i'm assuming you may just have a dud.

Is there a way to know in advance if the others I have are bad? Or should I just let them sit in the humidor for a while? If so, how long is a good amount of time to wait?

The Cuba Aliados I had was not a zeppelin, but was by far one of the worst cigars I've ever tasted.

I bought a box of these when I saw them in the catalog. Price was low enough ($35 for 10 cigars) and they looked good. That is where the dream ended. When I received them I was nto impressed by how they looked - a little dry and not very heavy for the size, which would indicate an under-filled cigar. I let them rest for a week or so and then fired one up. It was loosely packed and had a light draw. Flavor was not very good and the burn was marginal at best.

I tried another one after a month in the humi and with no change. They will sit in there for a long time before I go at them again.

So I had about the same experience as you did with this one. Let them sit and see what happens.

An update to this post - I smoked another one of these last night and it was pretty good - not great but smokeable. It burned right and the draw was good. I wouldn't rush out and buy more, but it does seem like the first one I had was a dud.

Yikes. Glad to hear the second one didn't suck like the first.

I'm still not inclined to give it a go, though. ???
