You honor, I present Exhibit A in my case for why I have no respect for NBA basketball. You honor, this is a game that is totally out of hand and lacks any reason for respect, and the prosecution rests...

What do you expect from Artest.....He's just a Queensbridge thug ???
Honestly, I have a bigger problem with O'Neal. Eventhough it was wrong and Artest should have restrained himself, I think a case can be made for why he lost it and went after a fan. I believe there is no place for anything like that, but had it just been Artest there would have been a reason. How many of us here would not go after someone that threw a beer at us?

O'Neal on the other hand can be seen flying into the melee in the stands and hitting some guy standing near the fight. I don't know what that guy was doing, but from the shots I've seen, he didn't deserve to get hit the way he did. I hope they sue the $hit out of O'Neal.

These guys are paid to be professional. They are paid outrageous amounts of money for this. They should show restraint when it comes to something like this. Don't get me wrong, I understand why but I still think that it should have never gotten to that

Starts with Ben Wallace going after Artest, then Artest laying on the table, then the Pistons fanatics, Artest again, etc. They are all to blame, suspend them without pay for half the season, find out who bought the tickets and send the prosecuters after them too. This was much worse than the Texas Ranger/Oakland A's bullpen incident. Wonder what they'll do.

I was totally in shock to watch O'Niel go into the stands! I thought maybe he was going to help pull Atest off the fans, but then he starts throwing punches as well AMAZING :(

These guys are nothing but street thugs who have taken there school yard antics to the NBA. They should be thrown out for the entire year! IMHO

Oh by the way GO SONICS!

Here is what I think should be done.

Suspend the whole league for 3 days,,this way you effect eveyone who was involved last nite and any players or fans who may think about doing the same thing in the future,,, (players, owners, fans)
The NBA has had a tme bomb waiting to go off with Ron Artest,,
Then any of the players that went into the stands last nite get suspended,(Pistons or Pacer) for the rest of the season ,with out pay of course.
Besides, wasn't Artest looking for time off to produce his rap CD....
St.John's must be proud.

Yes he was and this seems to be the only way St. John's can get their basketball program in the news ???

Well, I see that a few were suspended indefinately, which is good. This is gonna take a long time to figure out. Lawsuits will follow, that is pretty much a given.

I am sure that these guys are just "misunderstood". Not too surprising that this happened in Detroit, Michigan, either.

They need to go after the morons in the crowd, too. They all share responsibility.

Oh, I couldn't agree more. I am not a bit surprised something like this would happen in Detroit, Michigan. Those fans deserve just as much of the blame...

How could anyone say " I am not a bit surprised something like this would happen in Detroit, Michigan" Where does your logic come from? Is it the fact that they are all black or you watch too many robo cop movies? This could of happened anywhere. Its called "liquid courage" a.k.a. beer and a$$hole basketball players that think they are gods gift to this earth. Just today 2 fights broke out at college football game but i dont see anybody saying that i am not a bit surprised from this or that town. Next thing i will hear is "i would expect this from hockey fans" BS

The players were in the wrong for going into the stands and trampling that poor old lady. You also had kids and families around, and they were put at risk unnecessarily.  The fans who went on the court got what they deserved in my opinion. When you storm onto the court, you should expect to get your clock cleaned.

If you folks think the fight was bad, wait for the lawyers to throw themselves all over anyone slightly involved in this.

Well, since St. Louis doesn't have a basketball team, and they are considered the most dangerous city in the nation, Detroit is the first city that comes to mind when something like this happens. Sure, this could happen anywhere, but I am not a bit surprised that this happened in Detroit, Michigan, because of the crime that the city is known for.

Also, I have been to Detroit, and seen first-hand why it is considered the most dangerous city in the nation. I am not just basing this on facts. Detroit is the only city in the nation that I have been to where a Subway restaurant was completely behind bullet-proof glass, and had a rotery-thing at the end to put your money in/get your food. I understand drive-throughs doing this, but at a Subway restaurant? Totally blew me away.

This is why I am not surprised that it happend in Detroit, granted it could have happened in many other cities in the country.

ESPN is reporting that a few players have been suspended indefinitely, perhaps for the rest of the season. A lot of folks are pointing the finger at Artest, though in the Piston's game, they were getting frustrated at being dominated throughout the game. The fouls wasn't the worst one ever commited, the Pistons were just upset that they couldn't win and were getting smoked for four quarters.

The Pacer's were up by 15 with less than a minute left, and Artest hacks Wallace going through the lane.... there's no reason for that trash.....

And someone ought to fire the four moron's, led by John Sauders, doing the commentary on ESPN yesterday. These guys were being "men"???? defending their "manhood".... gimme a freakin break....they're spoiled punks that ought to get suspended for a year or more. They don't know the first thing about being men.

I used to have season tickets to the Cavs in the Lenny WIlkins years. I haven't been to an NBA game, or watched one on TV in six years. I refuse to support Stern's pathetic excuse for a game.

I hope the MLB is watching, they're heading down the same path.
