Drama, anyone?

Yep, we'll probably have another CP'er badboy on the scumbags and bad trader's list when it's all said and done. Move over gamelover!, there's company coming. :) :angry2: :angry:
 
...and you know, I really hate that it has played out that way. To make a long, long story short (but not Between the Lines, thank god), I tried several times to discuss these P/T's with Eluthardt, and he never responded. Period. I think it easily could have been an honest mistake, but he never even tried to defend his point or admit a mistake. The Between the Lines, that one you can get over, even though it was wrong, but the Padron Millennium, that was screwed up.

I will be posting a full detail of my efforts on this tomorrow. I have to get to work now, and have our staff Christmas party for work tonight. I don't need to explain this stuff drunk tonight, either, trust me...

This why you don't see me in passes anymore. While I think the general rules should be stuck to, I also sometimes see a selfishness when it comes to puts and takes. It's kind of confusing to me to see people complain about a put or take and then I'll turn around and see that the same person complaining has been overly generous to a newbie with no expectation of anything in return. Before you jump on my back, I realize there is a difference on a couple of different levels, but I still find it funny.

I'm very particular about getting involved in passes anymore, unless they are by invitation only. :D
 
This is why I don't want to do passes any more either.. (Except people keep sending them to me anyway! :0).

Too much f'ing drama.
 
I think if there were more strict rules and we made sure people followed them, despite it taking some of the "fun" away, there would be less drama... a point Cohibasurfer was trying to make, I think.

Passes are still fun... just need to make sure everyone on board has a clue, and is acting in good faith, is all.

When they're done right, they're VERY fun. Luckily for me, I haven't had any problems with mine yet except for a few misdeliveries, but hey, USPS, what can you expect? :D

People just need to get their heads out of their asses and get with the program.
 
I agree moki.. but passes have kind of involved over time into a way for the pass orginator to get back better or more than what he/she sent out. Originally they were for people to get to try some new stuff or things they couldn't get on their own and were an extension of the generous "brother of the leaf" idea. In my opinion they got too complicated with too many "rules" and not enough leeway towards the rules. I understand it, but just don't really support it anymore. So, I choose to stay away from most passes.

As a newbie as well, I would offer this perspective.

This was my first pass, and it was a lot of fun, despite the preceeding debate.

It was cool waiting for the box to arrive, going through all of those cool cigars, trying to figure out what was a good play for what. I thought it was fun to throw a couple extra's in, not just for the host's work (cause there is a fair amount of work involved) but to add some diversity for the next guys. It was even more fun to smoke one of those pass ceegars with a BOTL afterwards....... :D

Like Big100HD, I watched the Millenium go through my hands as well, and that makes the current drama a real disappointment for our sense of common decency as people, let alone BOTL. How could one enjoy that smoke after sniping it? :(

Moki - you laid it out there the best in the thread, very well said. :cool:

I would offer to the rest of you not to let knuckleheaded behavior spoil some good fun and a great online community here. This is a vewy kewl place......

All depends on who is in the pass, I suppose. If I knew everyone who was in the pass, I wouldn't have any rules at all, to be honest... I can easily think of a dozen people (or more) here whom I'd trust with a pass, to do the right thing without any instruction at all.

For passes with newer people in, or people you don't really know (or are unsure regarding their knowledge of cigars), it makes sense to have more rules and more oversight.
 
I really think invite-only is the way to go. If I ever run a pass (highly doubtful) that is how I'll run it. As Moki says their are plenty of people here I trust. It's the wave of the future I tell ya :p

How true Matt. I think in some cases, not all "some people are just scumbags" the main problem is there is no one sight listing prices on all cigars. As Im fairly new to cigars I can spend over an hour reserching two cigars on the net , makeing sure on the equal puts and takes. I have purchased cigars from brothers on cp for $14.00 a stick and found them as high as $30.00 a stick on line, finding one site that has both cigars in it can sometimes be a real pain in the ars , and if you go to a smoke shop to buy a cigar that realy throws a wrench into the mix. I think the best way to solve this is better comunication, although it seems some people avoid this. The one point I would have to disagree on is on [but passes have kind of involved over time into a way for the pass orginator to get back better or more than what he/she sent out] I think that there are alot of people out there yet that just want to get a different viraty of sticks , maybe not all , but most. I havent seen a host bag around for quit a while now.

While all have posted good feedback on this, I'm going to put it out there like it really is.....

I remember the first pass I participated in. The first thing that got me when I opened that box of cigars was GREED!!!! I was new at this stuff and I was, in that instance, overcome with greed! Looking at all of those cigars, I wanted all of the good ones!! It was intoxicating I tell you!

Now, I knew better, of course and I pondered over what would be a good put for take, thought about the other guys down the list from me and what they should have to choose from and I put better than I took! Period!

This guy (and I don't know him from Adam) was flat out greedy! I mean, look at his response, what a POS!!

So folks, the moral of this story is this, think about others and not yourself when participating in a pass and you'll do just fine. You'll also get to try something you may not be able to get where you live.

I too lusted after the Padron Millinium. I held it, looked at it, put it in its bag, and sent it on. No cigar in the world is worth screwing a brother for. All I got in this world is my word and my balls. I ain't breaking any one of them. :thumbs:
