I've been wanting one of these for a while and one came up on sale at Home Depot for nearly half off. The wife said "there's your Christmas present." 40,000 BTU:

Tried it out the other night when the outside temp was 32F. Tried to measure the temp with the heater on and sitting down a couple of feet away the temps ranged from 50 -60. Standing up was really toasty.

Lucky you. So would you recommend it? I have been looking but the price is a bit hefty to pull the trigger without a review. I like my firepit, but I am tired of splitting wood.

Hmmm... the wife was asking me just this morning what I wanted for Christmas and I didn't know what to tell her. This is a great idea! I might have to replace the trusty ol' firepit with one of these! Very nice gift.

Those are really nice heaters. Congrats on the early present.

I strongly recommend it. My brother and I sat under it smoking for an hour and a half and were totally comfortable with a coat and no hat or gloves. Just don't stand too close as it felt like my hair was going to catch fire.

I would highly reccomend one Nate. I love mine. The radiant heat feels really nice. It will even warm up your chairs and table. They just don't give off that much warmth when the wind is blowing.
I've sat outside in thirty five degree weather in a t shirt and jeans before. You can alo put it in your garage when the wind is up, as long as you have about two feet of clearance above it.
