You ever have one of those days where you wake up and really just are not happy with where you are at and want a change? I'm starting to really not like living in Bumphuc MN anymore, my wife really doesn't like her job, I'm just not motivated by our house (it's nice but I just don't feel right here), I'm tired of the quality of people in this town, the weather sucks (I know, it's the end of winter, everyone feels like this), and I just think there's more to be had out there.

My wife's already made a few calls about job opportunities elsewhere, and this morning we talked and she is thinking she wants to go back to do a fellowship. That's three more years of training but she's bored in her current state.

So now I'm actually a little excited, and trying to think about all the cool places we could move to. I just had to get that off my chest. Thanks.

Sounds like a great time IMO....nothing more exciting than a life change....I'm in the middle of one atm, and it's nerve racking....but great!

Best of luck bro, everything happens for a reason.

That is the cool thing about life, you can change it. Whatever the wind blows enjoy the ride. The getting there is just as good as being there. Enjoy the journey!!

Vegas might be too hot and exciting for you...good luck with your search.

Actually my wife did the first year of her residency in Vegas, but there's no Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship there so it's out. It was one of the first places I checked to see if there was a program because I wouldn't mind at all moving back.

Hope it all does work out. Wherever you go....... you will have a lot of brothers pulling for you.......Pulling for the good to come from your decision.

Where are you shopping for opportunity?

Boston / Providence gets my vote Andy (and not cause I live there). Medical field is exploding out here, give it a looksy.
Hope all works out for you and the wife, nice to vent every now and again.

Best of luck, I'm always a big supporter of someone who wants to better them selves and there lives.

Colorado would be good. We are nice people!

Well, my wife finished her residency in Denver! And we lived down in Castle Rock and absolutely loved it. We moved back to MN after she finished to be closer to her family and because the salaries in Denver were crap. Now we're just not sure the $$ and her family are worth our own happiness. I know, it sounds harsh, but that's just the way we're thinking about it, and we want to live somewhere nice again. The view of the front range is something we miss. Instead, we now have a view of farm fields as far as you can see.

I've had three "phases" in my lifetime, and have never regretted anything I've done. Every time I've made a change it was tough but enabled me to make progress in life and I'm a happier guy because of it. Hindsight is always 20-20 but it takes guts to take some risks and make positive changes for the future.

Good luck and best wishes, Gonz - B.B.S.

PS: I absolutely love the Pacific Northwest and can't imagine living anywhere else.....

Yes? Oh... I see....
Seriously though, Andy good luck with everything, it is basically what I have been dealing with the last few months as well. I am sure you will find the right place for you and your family.

Gonz, just went through big changes recently myself with quitting my job, staying home to care for the baby for five months, dealing with the wife crying every night because SHE wanted to stay home, got a new and BETTER job, wife is now home with the babe and I get a full nights sleep when on the road!

There were some nail gnashing for sure but it was worth it. That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Life throws curves at you and the only way to look at it is in a positive light as new opportunities abound!

P.S. I spent a lot of time in MN with my old job..............it sucks for someone like me who grew up in Southern California. :sign:

I say go for it Gonz...at 18 I wasn't happy with what I was doing, I made some major changes (school change, major change, etc.) and am A LOT happier where I'm at. Even though it may be risky, it's definitely worth the risk and effort.
