My refrigerator died Wednesday before I left for the three day tournament......thank God it didn't die Thursday!

I am looking on Facebook Marketplace and don't understand a lot of what I am reading.

  1. Most listings say they will ship to me for $20 USPS? How is this possible? I wasn't aware USPS did freight shipping?
  2. What if the fridge arrives and doesn't work properly?
Does anyone have experience with this?

FB marketplace is hit or miss at times, I would recommend you filter the results and select "local pickup" every purchase is considered "as is". Not to detour you I have had good luck with almost all of my transactions through it.

If you get a item that is not functioning most sellers will work with you on a return or exchange.

Yeah, I saw how I could choose local only but there are so many more options when you look at the ones that can be shipped. But what does that mean? How can a fridge be shipped for $20 and what is the recourse if it doesn't work?

I always look at local pick up , If I had money I didn't care about losing , its possible I would try it , I'm guessing they are going to ship a picture of a fridge or something. I am not sure on the steps you would take if there was a problem.

It won't that is just an error on the lister.

FB is shit in so many ways.

I suggest Craigslist, Nextdoor, Offerup, etc.

I second the CL is dead, the only thing on there anymore is adds for commercial business. Sad really, I used to like CL. I have no experience with any other p²p sales websites.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I think COVID has made people stupid. Best Buy no longer answers phones at any of the stores around me, you have to talk to national customer service. I had to explain what their "open box" meant to the rep. Their web site will not show local inventory, their chat people can't access local inventory, they don't answer phones, and national customer service didn't know what "open box" meant.

This fridge situation is getting out of hand, somebody get this man a cold beer!
I love camping but not in my own home. At first I simply took all the frozen stuff to the chest freezer in the basement and all the refrigerated stuff to my beer fridge in the shed (luckily there was some room). But going out to the shed to get everything to make a sandwich and then taking it all back was a pain in the ass!

Thank God I have a Yeti cooler!
