The other day I was re-organizing my cooledor to put in a new box that was coming in and I decided to check on my stuff in there. I pull my GOF DBL ROB 06 tubos box out and decide to take a look at them because these are supposed to be my special cigars and low and behold spots of mold, and I freaked out. I really didn’t want to loose 80dollars worth of sticks. Two tubes were fine but two tubes had spots growing but it seemed to be growing on the cedar and tube and being transferred onto the cigar. I brushed off the two sticks that had the small spots and separated them into a 3-finger baggie with no cedar and I smoked one last night. Burned beautifully, tasted smooth with lots of cloudy white smoke when I puffed. But I smoked it on a hurry so I didn’t enjoy it as I could have like I probably would have on a special occasion.

Just a heads up to check your if you have them since this is the my first time with a mold problem and these come in their own containment unit (the tubo). In my poor excuse for expertise I have noticed that all the Fuentes products that have had mold issues are the ones that are cedar wrapped and when looking at mine the cedar itself seemed to be the culprit. Could Fuentes be housing the cedar it uses for it sleeves in a place that could have mold spores issue. Just seems odd that all the products with the cedar are the ones with issues. I am just posting my experience I did not search to see what the consensus was regarding the issue so I apologize if this has already been explained.

Was it the small white spot kind of mold? I've seen this on a lot of tubos. That's why I take everything out of the tube. It's easier for me to keep an eye on them and easier to control the storage environment that way.

Could it also have been 'sap' from the cedar - dried up a little?

Edit - it's not the location as much as it's the environment in which the mold flourishes.

I had the same problem with a King B a few weeks ago--I removed the cedar only to find mold. Fortunately, there wasn't very much. I was able to brush it off and, since it has been in my humidor, it seems fine.

yes it was lil circle type spots of mold

the cooler they were in had an enviroment of 62-68% humidity but the tube is metal and i never opened them to inspect them when i got them so in all possibility the humidity inside the tube could have been higher and no other item had mold but i do agree it is the enviroment that why i wondered if the cedar is being kept in a bad enviroment before being placed on the cigars hence having the spores on the cedar waiting to grow on the cigar once wrapped and then meeting all the other conditions

im no biologist so i just smoked it

Well said!

I've seen this many times before. I'm with LilBastage, take them out of the tube, save the tube if you want to take them with you someday, but it's just less of a headache and worry to take them out.
