Tomlin's pride finally had to be put aside.

He stepped down as opposed to being fired.

He is probably a great guy to have a beer and a cigar with, and a good human being but he was not a good head coach!

He took what might have been the best for sports franchise in the world and dragged them down to a near dumpster fire!

I honestly didn't see that coming. Let me rephrase, I knew it was an option (heard about his broadcasting opportunities) but didn't expect it to happen.

I'm now assuming A-Rod will finally retire!

LUCKY

I can't wait to hear Steeler fans when they see how whoever the new coach is deals with that bad roster.
The roster looks a lot worse than it is because of his poor coaching all the way around. Steelers have the highest paid defense in the league by a mile and their pass defense sucks so unless you can make me believe that every player has a bad day every game, it's coaching.

Tomlin achieved average to above average results with Elite Talent for many many years.

He may stay for another year now that he knows that horrible coaching staff will be gone.

We will see I guess. High paid doesn't equal good.

Celebrating a great day in Steeler history with my grandson!

I’m surprised Aaron made it through a whole season. Looks like thielen retired today, I can’t remember if he was with the Steelers though. The running game looks solid and DK is solid. But could use some help in the wr/qb rooms.

No comment on the defense, I don’t pay enough attention lol.

Thielen was with the Steelers. When he got his chance with the Vikings, after Diggs got hurt, he was a stud.

I keep hearing/seeing stories about Aaron signing a 1 day contract with the Packers, so he can retire a Packer, but I haven't seen anything concrete. IMO, it's time for him to retire and stop trying to prove himself. It's tarnishing his career/legacy.

Just to be clear, I will gladly give Tomlin a standing ovation when he comes to town because he was always a class act, a great motivator and a great relationship builder, a terrible head coach! He let the players do what they wanted and that's why there has been a discipline problem and Tomlin's team every year, Martavis Bryant, LeVeon Bell, Antonio Brown, Deante Johnson, George Pickens, DK Metcalf.

People who insist he is a great coach are either not aware of the facts or not willing to hear the facts. People think he had bad talent to work with and that is miles away from the truth. For example, in the decade from 2012 through 2021 the Steelers had more pro-bowl players and more pro-bowl appearances than any other team in the NFL with 20 and 51 respectively. In that decade Tomlin won a grand total of 3 playoff games. The team with the second most pro-bowl players and appearances 19 and 49, the Patriots, had 15 playoff wins and 3 super bowl titles. By comparison, the Ravens, who are in the same division, had 6 playoff wins and 1 super bowl title.

And things got worse after that! Tomlin had 5 playoff wins in his first 4 years (with Cowher's team) and 3 playoff wins in his last 14 years.

There are 4 facts showing he was a bad head coach for every fact that shows he was good. Consistently achieving average results with elite talent is just plain bad coaching.

Sounds like Harbaugh will take over the NY Giants.

Who would you like to see interviewed/hired for the Steelers job Jefe @CigarStone
