Had the unfortunate experience of making a 525+ mile trip to Indianapolis with 3 young children to boot visiting the in-laws for the Thanksgiving holiday. Things got somewhat brighter as I spied a place on the corner of Shadeland and 75th street called The Cigar Box, it turned out to be about a 3 minute drive from where we stayed. I brouhgt my own smokes with me, but wasn't sure I would get many opportunities too smoke as the weather was not very good for smoking outdoors. I managed to get down there 4 out of the 6 days spent in Indianapolis and enjoyed each visit. Very nice atmosphere and selection. I decided to only smoke "top shelf" stuff that I had never had before since I don't get the chance to visit places like this very often. The only bad thing about the place was trying to figure out what I was going to purchase and smoke. Here are the choices I made, let me know what you think. Unfortunatley these aren't reviews as I wasn't really prepared for doing them just a quick though about each.

Day 1: Ashton VSG - Not sure of the exact size, but it was an excellent smoke. Not sure I would buy another, but enjoyable none the less.

Day 2: Arturo Fuente Don Carlos - This was also an excellent smoke, I really wanted an Opus but they didn't have any so I chose this and I'm glad I did. I would definately smoke this again given the chance.

Day 3: Diamon Crown Maximus Toro - I wish I never smoked this thing, just leaves me wishing that every cigar could be like this. It just felt good holding it.

Day 4: Padron 1926 series #6 - See above DCM comment and then some. This cigar was amazing. Not sure what else to say about it other than WOW!

Never in my Cigar life have I dropped $70 on 4 cigars, but I'm gald I did and will gladly do it all over again next time.

Cool story...

sounded like you had a great time...at least at the smoke shop.

By the way, how did you get out of family functions to go smoke?

The choices were excellent...you will be sorry that you tried those cigars, especially the Padron.

Try the Padron 1964 Maduro next time ;)

I like VSG's but never had one with age on them. I have 1 in my humi I've had for 9 months and the other a couple of months. I had a Diamond Crown and I thought it was a complete waste of my $20 and havent tried one since. Don Carlos line is nice and dont have to say a word on the Padron. :D

But that sound like you have a great time and thats all that matters.

It wasn't really that hard to get away, lots of downtime on each day but Thanksiving. The Grandparents were primarily spending as much time with kids as possible wich left opportunities for me and the wife to get out some.

No kidding on the Padron, I have a PAN 64 in the humi that might get some action soon.

Nice story, Sabres.

You picked some great smokes. Chewie's right, once you hit the PAM64, you're gonna be hooked for sure. I'm glad someone got to light up on turkey-day. :D
