I was over visiting the in-laws with the wife and kid, and decided to take a cigar along to smoke if there was time. My relatives had a sunroom built on the back of their house so they'd have somewhere sheltered and reasonably warm to smoke (cigarettes) when the weather isn't nice, and so they don't smoke indoors anymore. The wife's aunt and uncle came by for a coffee and to see our kid, and my wife's aunt commented "Eww that stinks!". I had to keep myself from laughing since she's a cigarette smoker and has been for 30+ years.

Funny how that works out. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, yet I love the aroma of cigars.

So does that mean anybody who enjoys both likes the smells of each or hates it? Sounds like a survey to me.

I like the smell of a cigarette if someone else is smoking it and i just catch a fresh whiff. Cigars are almost always a nice aroma..

That is funny. I like cigarette smoke from afar. That is, I didn't enjoy playing gigs in bars where the smoke was so thick you could barely breathe. You come home smelling like an ashtray.

But the distant aroma of someone smoking a cigarette smells good to me.

I know some other people who have a preconceived notion that cigars=bad smell. Simply not the case.

I've had cigarette smokers complain about my cigar on several occasions. I don't particularly care for cig smoke, but I'm not going to go ask them to stop because it stinks. This subject is a general annoyance of mine. There are quite a few bars in Memphis where smoking is legal (they simply have to ban entry by minors), but no cigar smokers. We were at dinner the other night and the place had a smoking section and we could get a wiff of their smoke during dinner. I want to walk over one day with a nice churchill and smoke out the building. Sorry for the rant, but this subject annoys me to no end.

Same here Jim. I had a few people on my old night shift that chain-smoke cigarettes to no end, and so I'd whip out my Opus cigar or an Anejo, and light up with them. Surprisingly enough, about 2 weeks of doing this, and they all told me not to come play with their toys because my cigar smoke annoyed them. ??? Give me a break!!!

My dad has been smoking for many years, and I have never liked the smell of a cigarette. Most people are smoking the cheapest smokes they can find in my area because a pack of Malboro's is like 8 bucks. Luckily there is no smoking in restaurants in my area, because I can not stand smelling it when I am trying to enjoy a meal. There is nothing like smelling a cheap cigarette that has the odor of feet that have been in wet socks and boots all day!!! On another note I have always loved the sweet smells of pipes and cigars. I guess that is why I smoke them.... :)

I used to smoke Cigarettes. My wife still does. One thing I've noticed since quitting is how strong the burning paper smell is. My wife always comments how nice my cigars smell, especially my Fuente Cameroon Don Carlos and Hemingway.

Camel has a line of smokes that they call "Signature Blends". She tried a pack of the "Robust" which had a great aroma.
This led me to taste one (no inhaling), and it was probably the tastiest cigarette I've ever had.
