On Friday, March 21st, I gave up half of my tobacco habit. I started smoking cigars at the age of 15 back in 1972 but during my military days I became a cigarette smoker as well due to the lack of availability of cigars at times. So, for appx 28 years I've smoked cigarettes. Lots and lots of cigarettes. Most recently 2 packs a day. On Saturday, March 22, I woke to the realization that I would die someday and decided then and there...Later rather than sooner. Gave all the cigarettes in the house and my vehicle to my wife and told her, "I love you. I will not smoke these anymore but you can if you want to. One thing though, if you continue to smoke these I will outlive you and I'll probably re-marry."

10 days without a cigarette and counting.

BTW, it's amazing how much more flavor cigars have now. Also, I have restricted myself to 3 cigars a day with a fourth if I plan on putting on a proper drunk.

Congratulations. I quit smoking cigarettes about two years ago after nearly nine years of smoking. I didn't touch ANY tobacco products for one year and then ultimatley took up cigars. I don't have that lousy feeling I have from cigarattes and the monkey stays off my back. Best of luck to ya..it's a tough one to quit but well worth it.

Congrats bro...keep it up! I've been using some sort of 'smokeless' for ummm 30 years now. I ought to do the same....quit.

Quit myself about 3 years ago after 25 years and have to admit it was the best thing I ever done in my life for myself as well as my love ones.

Its not easy but well worth it! Congratulations and good luck. You can do it!

Great Going Neal,

Think of all that xtra money you used to spend on cigarettes that you can now put into fine smokes ;)

Good Luck Neal,
I quit 2 years ago and it has made me feel much better. Its tough but keeping yourself busy with a fine cigar makes it much better.
Hang in there Brother.

Thanks for the support guys. SHoot. It sure isn't about the money. Every cigar I've smoked in the last week is worth at the minimum 3 packs of cigarettes. So...let's see...10 days, 3 cigars a day @ min. $6.00 each. $180.
Soooo...that's 9 cartons of cigarettes which is 90 packs @ 2 packs a day that's 45 days of cigarettes in 10 days.

Ah is smoove and shrood.
