Today at lunch i was pulling out of the fast food place and i had a seizure. Luckily I only hit a free-standing pay phone...but I split the thing in two. The CAT scan was negative and the bloodwork was ok except for low iron which I knew about. It just scared me bad cause i have never had one before...Has this happened to anyone just out of the blue?

Melly sorry to hear about this. No I have never had this occur to me but I would see a neurologist as a follow up.
 
I used to work neurology and the only advice I can give you is see a neurologist asap.

x3. Can't stress enough that you need to get to a neurologist/neurosurgeon right away, in addition to your PCP. Not to scare you, but you can't assume it's a one time event and you need to get it addressed promptly.
 
Mel.....yikes! Are you trying to make us worry to death about you? Thank god it was only a pay phone and not a person. I hope you're doing better. I look at it this way.....if you're going to find out that you're prone to seizures, then this is a good way to find out, since it could have been a lot worse.

Please keep me updated as to what you find out. :thumbs:
 
Wow, sorry to hear this. I hope everything turns out ok, I agree with the others you need to see the neurologist, you might not have enough blood flow!!
 
Back when I was in my late twenties, I had a handful of unexplained seizures. MRI, CAT, bloodwork, and so on, was all negative with the exception of one sleep-deprived EEG with photic stimulation...and it only had a mildly interesting, transient slow transverse wave (possibly epileptiform), IIRC. My neurologist explained that it wasn't too unusual for some people to have 'em at that time of life (most prevalent among men) with no known cause and no subsequent recurrence. So, they eventually left me with a diagnosis of Idiopathic Seizure Disorder. I took Dilantin for two years and never had another seizure then, nor since.

Definitely something to have checked...and checked soon.
 
MEL. I am so sorry to hear this. I hope everything turns out well. I will agree with those who suggest going to a neurologist...it is better to be safe than sorry. Talk to you later Mel.

Go talk to pros and not a cigar board. Do sooner rather than later too.
 
I'm glad you were not hurt. I agree, you need to see a specialist. asap. My younger brother had his first seizure at age 47. It came out of the blue. He was put on some meds, but when he was weaned off them, he had another. Doctors say that sometimes it can be a one time thing and never happen again. But an EEG is what is needed (according to my brother's doc).
 
Get it checked out. My sister started having seizures in her late 20's-early 30's and is on medication now for the problem. She had been perfectly healthy when they just hit all of a sudden.

Get to the specialist as soon as you can.

Wifey had iron problems a few years back. Tried supplements with little luck. Worked more spinach, brocolli, and tomatoes into her diet. All better now.

Damn Melly, glad it wasn't any worse than a pay phone and you didn't get hurt. Hope everything checks out well for you.
