I notice when I smoke a maduro cigar and the head gets too juicy I get massive heartburn for 1-2 days after, maybe because of ingesting some of the juices?

Has this ever happened to anyone?

I had a montesino maduro recently. Didn't notice anything.

Never, and I smoke a lot of maduros.

On the other hand, I don't like it when the stick gets too wet. I hold it in my hand or set it down between puffs. I never hold it in my mouth unless I'm taking in smoke, if I can help it.

Nicotine is a smooth muscle relaxant. If there is too much nicotine being ingesting, it will relax the muscle around the esophagus near the stomach. The acid in the stomach reachs the esophagus and causes the heartburn. I get this feeling after I smoke Nicuaguran cigars. When I was medical school, I had that problem years ago and I did some research and found that to be the problem....

What cigar was it?
Generally the heartburn has to do with strength.
If youre ingesting "juice" or tar you need to reclip your cigar.
The buildup can ruin a good cigar, it tastes awful, and I suppose it could give you heartburn for a couple of days.

Or maybe youre allergic to Maduro's :p

Do you have acid reflux disease? Smoking can aggrevate the disease if you have it. I'm currently being treated for it...

Thanks for the info QPPS.

No Acid reflux disease that I know of here, I only ever got it while smoking a few maduros... both times was a Montesino Maduro, different sizes.

The end didn't tar up at all but was fairly wet.

I gotta try another without wetting it and see if the result is the same or different.

...try a Pepsid AC over the counter antacid before you smoke. When my stomach gets "hot" those babys really put out the fire.

Maybe you just have a delicate nature to you. ;)

Have you heard about the purple pill called Nexium?

I take a prescription generic Prilosec for acid reflux and I haven't had a reflux or heartburn problem since I started taking it.

Fascinating. Thanks for the info.
