Helping the Troops

I also want to tell all of you that have sent cigars over here that they are appreciated everywhere. As president of the Victory Cigar Club here at Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq, I can attest that our cigar meetings are a big hit or our membership wouldn't be approching 130 people.

Also, a lot of our donors request that enlisted troops get cigars. We're in an area that is top heavy with rank, so we get some "ambassadors" or guys going out to visit smaller bases to take cigars with them and pass them out. It's a big hit.

For everyone that has continued to send cigars over here even in the midst of economic downturn we, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Marines...ok, and some civilians too, salute your efforts.

Major John Schoener, USAR
President, Victory Cigar Club

I just got a huge box for the troops. About 3 boxes worth of cigars plus some much needed humidifiers.

Big thanks to Jim and all the boys at Tobacco Village in Greensburg, PA. :thumbs:

Keep up the good work.

You would not believe some of the methods we use to humidify our sticks over here. Anything that helps that situation is greatly appreciated. Do you realize there is not a drop of distilled water in this entire country? I bought some beads while here but couldn't use them because there's no distilled water!!

Sonuvabum, keep up the great work. These items go a long way!!

Cheers,

Tony

Way to go, Keystone_Raider!!! :thumbs:

Finally got a box out to Dean (Tasman) today.

More to come shortly, but my list of actives has dwindled. That's a good thing I guess.

If you are currently deployed overseas, or know someone who is, and would like them to receive a goody box, drop me a PM. I've got about 3 more queued up and waiting for an addy.

Glad to be on the boards again. I've got a lot of catching up to do. I haven't been able to be around in about a month.

Life sometimes picks the darnedest times to flair up and get in the way of my plans. :D

Anyway...

Dean!! Heads Up!!

Hey brother the box has landed and it is great! I sent you an email with a couple of pics! The cigars and snacks were perfect! Thank you very much!

Dean

Thanks to everyone had a part in this. I could not do it without you.

In case anyone wonders why we do these things, here are a couple of notes I have received recently;

===========================================
Gary,
I would like to pass on a sincere thank you from myself and the men of EOD Mobile Unit 3 in Kandahar, Afghanistan for the package you sent them. I can't express enough to you how much your generosity is appreciated by these military men. You package will definitely make for some memorable moments during their tour here in Afhganistan, once again thank you. Respectfully, Fernando Juarez, USN Retired.
===========================================
Mr. King,
Thank you and your family for the care package with snacks and cigars.

Although Marines do not ask for much, they thoroughly enjoy receiving packages, not only for the treat but knowing that someone has taken the time to show their appreciation. Know that you have made a bunch of Marine Corps engineers a very happy bunch indeed as we smoke in “peace and camaraderie” on our plastic chairs on the rooftop when the temperature dips at night from 120 to 85 or so.

The quality of your gift did not go unnoticed either. The aficionados were extremely impressed.

Thank you again and God bless you and your family.

Col Marcela Monahan, USMC
=============================================

So I want to take a moment and thank all of you who have helped me with this mission. You all deserve as much of the credit as anyone. I could not do it without your help. Please know that we are making a difference while supporting our men and women over there. They obviously appreciate it very much.
[Mush Off]

Now get back to work!!

:D
