ive had alot of intrest in hookahs the few days ive been open. do any other vendors on here dabble in them and if so, do they move fairly well?

someone shoot me a pm and fill me in.

Don't own a shop or anything, but I would say take note of the patron's requesting them. My guess is they are looking to buy marijuana paraphanalia..

possibly not but thats my first guess. "new tobacco shop lets see if they carry bongs!"

....maybe yes, maybe no; it's a bit of a "fad" right now in the PacNW. Many of the good Indian restaraunts in town offer the use of hookas after the meal for a nominal charge.

The local cigar shop that I go to just started selling them. I am friends with the owner. She carries all of the tobacco and stuff that goes along with them too. The shop is located in a fairly large mall. She says that they have been selling very well. Especially the smaller ones that are around $25. Usually Hookah Bars charge $20 - $25 per hr to smoke them PLUS tobacco. And yes, my girlfriend and I have been curious about them so I did buy one of the small ones and all the shit that goes with it so I can try it out. I doubt that I will like it but I bet that my girlfriend and her friends will. As long as your shop does not carry glass pipes and shit like that you will do OK. I wont even go into places that sell that crap, sometimes I even stick my head in the door just to say "Fuck you".

Hookah Bars are pooping up all over NY too.
 
I smoked one here at CigarKing in Skokie last year. Interesting smoke - green apple flavor, as I recall... I was worried about the "pot head" stigma, but was pleasantly surprised it wasn't what I thought....
 
I've been into Hookahs for some time now. The sheesha is amazing if you find ones you like and the quality can be very surprising too. Problem I see is trying to compete with Ebay prices. As for a hookah bar in KC, we goto one that costs $10 and it last hours on end. Ya get your money worth there. Plus ya can get some nice thick Turkish coffee which just adds to the experience. I fire up my hookah here and there whenever I am in the mood. :thumbs:
 
We have had a couple of folks come in here at the shop asking for them in the last few weeks. We just direct them down the street a couple of blocks to the head shop.
 
As far as selling them at your shop I couldn't give any valid advice. :rolleyes:

If I am not mistaken there is a Hooka Lounge in Norman and Oklahoma City/Edmond. There was a big article about them a couple of months ago in the newspaper. The lounges are real popluar with the local college crowds.
 
I ate a restaurant in NYC about a year ago that finished off the meal with a hookah. It was quite nice. We did have a problem with pressure, and couldn't get the really thick fun clouds of smoke that tables around us were getting....and I consider myslef someowhat of a proffesional smoker, having dabbled in just about everything smokeable..., but I would absolutely order it again, assuming the pipe was in better working order.

Hookahs have nothing to do with 'pot head' culture. They're cultrally specific to the mideast and are very popular right now.

I suggest you buy a couple at wholesale price and see how they sell.
 
These are becoming popular here as well. I've never tried one, but many people seem to enjoy it.

Apparently, you can smoke these in restaurants but you cannot smoke anything else.

Interesting if you ask me... :rolleyes:
 
I have a three hose hookah. Works pretty well. It can be a bitch to get started, but once you have it going, it's fun. I've smoked it a few times. Tried the various flavors. The smoke is not at all harsh, actually rather smooth. Throw some ice cubes into the water for a cooler smoke.
