Hey Guys- Just bought a couple of boxes of 1926 and 1964 from Gabriel- How long do you guys rec. letting them sleep before enjoying??- Also should I leave them in their boxes or take them out and put in a tray in my Tower of Power Humi-Thanks so much and I really appreciate all the knowledge I get from reading all your posts- Gary

Those are already aged quite a bit and Gabriel packs his things well, they should be pretty much ready to smoke.

I agree, I have often smoked them out of the delivery box.

Usually I wait 24 to 36 hours for AF and Padron, let them settle back into 65%
but I guess this is just habit.

It's always best, IMHO, to give them at least a few days to recover from their journey. There are guys here who say two weeks minimum, and others that smoke right out of the mail. I am somewhere in the middle, but do feel that 3-4 days is the minimum for SINGLES. In a box, it takes longer for the humidity to regulate through the box. At the same time, if they were stored properly to begin with and were shippied well packed, there is a pretty good chance the middle fo the box is still in the same condition it left the shipper's location.

Nice answer, Josh! I couldn't have said it better myself.

Ready to smoke out of the box once they're back to your preferred humi level.

Ditto. Of course most Padrons are good with some age...they sure are good right after purchase

Roger that, BD.

On the "acclimatization" aspect, anywhere from FOTT to a few weeks is beneficial. On the "aging/maturing" aspect, the regular line seems to improve more in the short-intermediate term than the 1964 or 1926. I'm thinking 6 months to 2 years.

This mirrors my experiences. I will not smoke a cigar right from the shop or shipper any more. I let everything rest between 2 weeks and 1 month in the humidor before I generally touch it. I find the Padron 000 line improve and benefit from at least 6 months of aging in a proper humidor.
