if you have a best buy/circiut city/electronics retalier in your area, have you been buy there lately. i went by my local best buy to see tents setup near the enterance, so i asked what was heppening, a sales guy said it was people in line for the chance at a Sony PS3. There had to be 60 people out there, and most started lining up on Tuesday. Ah, i don't know about you, but i can't skip my job for almost an entire work week to spend $600+ dollars on a game system. Found it kind of odd. Anyone else seen this? I saw a story on my local news, here is a quick google search link, apparently it's happening everywhere... http://www.google.com/search?q=sony+ps3+li...:en-US:official

ya, its happening here too. people are calling the store every few minutes asking for them. each Walmart gets 6 units, i think bestbuy had more, about 40 units per store, not sure there... either way, high demand, short supply = people willing to buy for large $$$ on ebay :sign:

I was in college when the PS2 came out and did show up at a local Best Buy at 2:30AM so I could wait until 8AM to buy one. When they handed the tickets out at 7:00 I was 65th in line and 70 tickets were distributed. It looks like if you were to show up at 2:30AM the day of for the PS3 you would have went home empty handed. Like you, I couldn't imagine skipping work to camp for this. I might just end up walking in to any store on Sunday and picking up a Nintendo Wii and wait for the blu-ray vs. HD battle and a price decrease before I pick up a PS3.

After the whole rootkit fiasco (music CD's that downloaded spyware onto your computer without your knowledge that "phoned home" to Sony), I have sworn off buying any future Sony products, period.

My $00.02 - B.B.S.

Yeah I am here at my local WalMart right now! I just kicked some kid in the nuts and shot an old lady in the face because they were trying to squirm their way into the line. If I can't get one I am going to EBay and gonna drop the housepayment on the secondary pre-Christmas market. Normally I don't act this way but hey its the PS3 and its for my kids aftrer all. Wait until the Nintendo Wii gets here . . . come on . . . come on!

???

Complete foolishness going on all across the country over a stupid game. Apparently some ding dong of a manager of a WalMArt had a great idea. There were only 10 sets available and over 50 people waiting. Does he do a lottery . . . NOoooooooo. Does he give them to first come first served? Nooooooooo. This jackass sets up 10 chairs across the room and tells all the people that when he says go to run for the chairs and those who get a chair get a PS3. You can I am sure imagine the chaos that occurred after that. A couple people went to the hospital.

A WalMart in Palmdale was trashed when a small riot broke out over who was in line and where the line was supposed to be at.

People camping out for days to get a gaming console that will be half the price in 6 months.

I have always been purposely 1 year behind the times when it comes to gaming systems. I buy the system once it has droped 75% in price (usually when something new comes out) and I can get many games in the "used" section for a fraction of the cost.

the best buy said they were only getting 26 PS3's and as of tuesday there were people outside and it was sold out. I should have camped out so I could sell it on ebay and make 1,500 real quick!

Gold lord people on e-bay have buy it now’s set at 7 grand. Gotta tell ya, I’d rather buy a car.

LOSERS!!!!!!

Wait two frickin months and get if for half price without camping out. Your PS2 all of a sudden sucks? It's broken? What's the ruch?

Human behavior is such an interesting thing to watch.

Welcome to Silicon Valley!!! I am sure there are cybergeeks (sorry I mean professional gamers) lined up everywhere to get this here. Ya know it's because they don't have jobs and they live at home with their parents who pay for everything (Ok Mom, I'm coming!) gotta go!

don't know! i've never been into the games so, i can't even begin to understand what these people are thinking. Waiting since tuesday????WOW

This is just an example of wanting what we can't easily have. If these were produced in numbers to meet the demand it wouldn.t be so crazy. It's a lot like people getting gouged over opus x or anejos because they can't get them all the time. Not that we would stand in line for a week around the corner from the b&m when the shipment comes in, but the PS3 situation made me think of a comparable scenario that we get into.

There is a Best Buy next to my gym - last night at 9:00 when I was pulling into the parking lot there were at least 100 people already waiting in line outside of Best Buy and 6 or 7 tents set up. A little over an hour later when I left, another 25 people or so were in line. Thought I would have seen one person smoking a cigar....
