Our weather lately is a bit out of the ordinary to say the least. We have had an "Arctic Blast" come from up north and make it freezing here in Ohio, and several other places. It was -10 degrees this morning. The kids have yet to have school yet this week as a result . I can not imagine dealing with this temperature for more than just a couple days. I have a new found respect to all of our brothers in Alaska and anyplace else that has to deal with these temps on a regular basis.

By god, when I was a little boy, I walked to school in -20 degree weather, 5mi., uphill both ways. Freakin' pu@#y flatlanders. :whistling:

Doc.

I couldn't agree more. I recall when I was in school in Ohio years ago, the measuring stick was 0 degrees for wether or not we could play outside for recess or not...now it is just cancelled ???.

At least you had shoes. I had to do it barefoot.

Poor bastids, we just stayed home from school back in the 60s and 70s and made $$$ shovelin' nieghborhood walkways....... :D  :p

Forty below, trudging barefoot though hip-deep snow in a short-sleeve shirt (uphill both ways) because the dog sled is in the shop, during six months of darkness, dodging moose and fending off grizzlies, in the middle of an earthquake, while explaining to that bloody tourist just one more time that the penguins he's lookin' for are at the South Pole.

T'ain't nothin'!

They didn't cancel school in my part of alaska untill the doors froze shut.

Edit: Hey PetersCreek, I've never heard of Peters Creek? Is it by Anchorage or something?

waa waa waa... it's too cold. dunno what you're complaining about - just a couple of days ago it was 45 and sunny!

LOL... I'd rather have the cold than the high heat/humidity ANY day...

Heh I would like to know how you guys do it too, yesterday morning it was -20 and my car made noises Detroit never meant it too. Although we didn’t close the schools, :p damn kids in Ohio.

When I was a teenager on at least a couple of occasions I delivered a paper route and walked to school in -40 - -50 with a wind chill factor (off of Lake Superior) making it -80 - -90.

Only had to walk uphill one way though.
