I told you about my job offer last week. Well, on Thursday my bosses called me up for a meeting and, it just so happens that I had typed up my resignation letter to give to them at the close of business.
It turns out that they were going to chew me out for refusing to sign the No Tobacco Policy form (among other things) that they were trying to force everyone to comply with. After telling me I "should be setting a better example as the Service Manager", and hurling a few sarcastic comments, I let it fly.
I told the President that he was an idiot, and the reason that so many employees have jumped ship in the last year. I also told him that it was high time that he accepted responsibility for some of the poor business decisions that he has been making, and stop blaming everyone else.
He walked out for about ten minutes and left me with the VP (his partner) who is the one I really do not have any problems with. The president comes back and plops this form down in front of me telling me I am suspended for Insubordination for three days. Then tells me to "sign it."
Of Course I refused, I then got up to walk out of the meeting and when I got over to the door he yells at me to "Get your butt back here when I'm speaking to you." I laughed my best fake laugh and walked out.
I did come back and still refused to acknowledge the form that he was still demanding I sign. He got disgusted and left for good when I told him to stop acting like such a child. Which he was.
The VP and I talked for an hour or so after he left. I let him know that I have never had a problem with him personally and that the time for me to go had come and gone long ago. That I wanted to give my notice, and work out my thirty days per our contractual agreement. You should have seen the expression when he realized I had it the whole time. So, I got suspended for three days, I still have to finish my thirty, and I am scheduled to start my new job July 27th. I feel really good about these people, they keep going on and on about me coming on board.
I know they say not to burn any bridges..........I have never been one to look back though, and with the toll this place has taken on my health/well being, I would be a fool to.

I took advantage of being off Friday to go up to the new place to sign my offer contract, and get things like driving record and drug screening out of the way.
Sorry this was so long, this was the shortest I could make it. The meeting was like four hours long.

Good luck with the new job Bro! ......also with having to finish out your time without killing anybody.

Best of luck. You probably feel so good right now and you deserve to.

Thanks! And, you're right. I feel like a huge weight has been taken off of my shoulders. I even felt like today for the first time, I can actually enjoy my family and look at things from a whole new perspective.

Good luck John!

Send the old pres a letter saying "I apologize for the delay in getting back to you regarding the poor business decisions I referenced; please see the following seven page list of some of your best phuk ups!"

Congrads John on a well deserved play! Nothing like telling it like it is to a dumba$$ boss who's been making your life Hell! Can't think of anybody I'd rather see (other than my husband, of course!) move on to a well deserved position with the respect they should have received all along!

Good luck with the new position brother! Let me know I can help in anyway as you change employers!

Rob

Awesome! AWEsome!! AWESOME!!!

Something so wonderful as being able to say BITE ME!

Wonderful to have new challenges and rewards from a new work environment instead of the same stale crap.

Hope it goes well for you.

Just starting my orientation at a new lab, new skills to learn here too.

Way to play it!!

It's rare in life that the planets align in such a way that you can handle a bad situation like that with the goods in your back pocket.

Good for you.

Enjoy the suspension. ;)

John, talk about going out with a BANG! Good for you, brother. I'm actually feel like I'm almost in your position on my job......and you set a good example for the rest of us who need that extra "uumph" to tell our boss to go F**k themself!

Burning bridges? In your case, I think they burned their own bridge when they started treating their employees like sheeple.
