I think Jeff has the right idea where the SWMBO is concerned. If you move up incrementally, it is much easier to get spousal buy-in, or at least reduced spousal nose-crinkling/good-natured-ribbing/objections/accommodations-reassignment.

When the larger coolers go on sale at Walmart, it will be easier to say, "Hon, I'm going to get three of these to upgrade the coolers mounted on the wall so I don't have to mount a fourth one." Easy Peasy Japanesy.
