Is there hope for these?

Double D and I did a box split of RD Gomez fast breaks after trying some that Brewmeister turn us onto during his Germany visit.

They arrived very wet (the RH in my humi went up over 8% after putting them in) but we decided to fire one each up regardless.

And they have no taste at all. It's like drawing on a wet rag :(

So do you guys and gals think that they might taste better after a few months in the humidor at 65% or are they a lost cause? Do wet cigars always taste bland due to the water content?

I'd hate to think I have so many bland sticks taking up so much room in my humidor (a box has 50 in it). So I am hoping that drying them out might make them taste better.

I would let it rest until the wetness of the cigars go down. I've had some cigars that were soaked, but after "drying" them out in my humidor for a month and a half, they became smokeable and tasty. The said cigar was a Punch Rare Corojo.

So I would suggest to stick with it and let them rest in a regulated environment.

Should be ok in a couple of months, though if you have some spare tupperware and beads, you might segregate them so that the moisture they lose doesn't get picked up by your other cigars.

Yeah I have read here that wetter cigars should be "dry boxed" for a while. You may want to try this in an old cedar lined cigar box or an unused humidor without a humidification device. The RH will equalize with the surroundings and then you can reintroduce them into your regular humi. Hopefully these will be salvaged. I hate to see cigars go to waste.

Wet cigars tend to taste sour and acrid to me but it sounds like your sticks may be a lot wetter than anything I've smoked.

I'd get them in a small, dry environment and maybe add a dish of dry crystal kitty litter or moisture sorbent. Give them a week or two and then see how they are.

Over the long term, extreme wetness is not a good thing so I hope that your cigars have not gone "over the edge" into permanent crappiness.

I put them in a La Liberitad box with a built in, dried out, bead filled humidifier.

In fact its almost as if the La Libertad box was made for these :D

I'm going give them a week or two and see how they taste. I haven't given up hope yet.

A quick update, after spending a bit of time in the dry-box, these cigars are coming along nicely.

I just smoked one and while it wasn't as good as the one I received from Brewmeister (different blend I think), it wasn't bad at all. I'm going to leave them in another week and then try one again.

Thanks for the tips Gentlemen!
