Was there ever a JOSE GENER brand from CUBA in the late 70's?

Or has it always been Hoyo De Monterrey?

I am doing some research on a cigar I recently came into posession.

It is from 1978. and it is banded JOSE GENER with HABANA underneath it..

It measures 6.75" maybe a 26/28 ring guage. I would classify it as a Panatela.

Any info is appreciated.

Sounds like you have a La Escepción Longos.

Well, at least that's the closest that I can find in terms of measurements.
 
Once again about them.
I found the auction with tose stick, the box really look like its old.

Alexgtp, did yours look the same? did you smoked them? any impressions?

It is a La Escepcion Longo. The band has "Habana" written right under "Jose Gener" in larger print.

Discontinued in the late eighties.

A very nice cigar if stored correctly and smoked slowly.

Just get the answer for email about those cigars.
They were stored in dry drawer for about 20 years, and they are kind of breakable.
So, I'll better forget about them.

Ouch. Yes, they are likely worthless as anything but a collectors item, unless that drawer was in a country with natural 62% humidity year round.

He wrote they're 'crunchy' so I suppose there was much less than 62% Rh in this drawer ;)
