So I didn't see a review for this particular cigar so I thought I would write one. My brother recently went to Hawaii and brought me back one of these. I was waiting for the right time to smoke it and I figured the right time is now.
Pre-burn: I'd have to say that the first note of the cigar was somewhat of an ammonia smell. I looked up a few other reviews and surprisingly some of them had the same things to say about this. I decided to figure out what it was and move on forward.
Initial light: the initial light was great. the draw was excellent. I used a standard cutter. The burn was fairly even throughout. I only had to relight it once at the end and I think it was due to trying to listen to my wife talk to me and forgot about the cigar.
The first 1/3: The first 1/3 made me want to never get one of these again. I couldn't get rid of that taste, which I assumed was some sort of ammonia/seaweed taste. I even called my brother and asked him where he got it from because I heard if you buy these at some of the retail stores in hawaii they dont take care of them properly. It was a retail store.
The second 1/3: BAM! The cigar really took off. I was so surprised by the flavors and taste that I was like wow is this the same cigar that I was smoking a few minutes ago. There was even a sweetness about it at some points. The flavors I noted were earthy and some notes of cedar.
The last 1/3: This part was just as great as the middle. I was thinking about how the beginning started and figured it was just one of those things that happens.
The ash was a light gray and stayed strong for quite a while. Overall I would buy these cigars again. Not sure if I would go online and look for them but if I ever find myself in Hawaii I would pick up a box of these. These kind of cigars I think are the kind that you want some kind of memory behind just because they are from Hawaii.
