I got an e-mail from JR cigars that these are on sale this week. Has anyone had these before? If they are any good I will pick up a box of them. Let me know your opinions on them. I am not expecting them to be spectacular smokes, just looking for something decent thats cheap.

Thanks

Well, if I didn't have this sinus infection, I'd smoke the single I have and tell you how it was. :D

Wilkey

Edit: post 2,900, baby!

They are not bad for an every day smoke. At the price JR has em you can't go wrong.

The Mantequilla Tapa Negra is made by Nicaraguan American Tobacco, South America (NATSA). These guys make the Nicaraguan Jose Marti, La Finca and a few others. If you like Nicaraguan tobacco, it's a good cigar. It is made in Nicaragua with Nicaraguan filler and binder but has an Ecuador Sumatran wrapper. Wheather or not you'll actually be able to taste the maduro strips depends on your ability to taste subtleties in tobacco. I was never able to taste the maduro when I smoked them.

The regular Mantequillas are a Nicaraguan puros...made with all Nicaraguan tobacco. And I really like the maduro-wrapped Mantequillas. :)

I've tried the regular Mantequillas, and I'm currently on my second box of the Tapa Negras. I've really enjoyed them all. To me, the Tapa Negras are just a tad bit spicier than the regulars, however not overpowering at all. Good medium cigar, and for the price, it's hard to go wrong (ship them to me if you don't like 'em!)

Plus the dual wrapper and pigtail twist is an icebreaker.
