A couple years ago, I picked up my first 8-ct sampler from Oliva. Up until then, I usually just stocked up on my favorites, and honestly—I never gave the Serie G much attention. Anytime I smoked one on its own, it just didn’t hit my wheelhouse.

But here’s where it gets interesting…

While working through that first sampler, I smoked a Padron 1964 Family Reserve Maduro. It was everything I love: chocolatey, creamy, rich—just classic Padron magic. The very next day, I reached for the Serie G Maduro Churchill from the sampler, not expecting much.

And to my surprise? It was better than the Padron.

The chocolate notes, the richness, the balance—it floored me. I thought, “Yes! Better for cheaper!” So naturally, I bought some Serie G Maduros on their own… and nope, not even close to the same experience.

Fast forward—I went back to the other sampler box I had bought, and sure enough, the Serie G Maduro in there was amazing again. Since then, I’ve gone through 10 boxes of these samplers, and I can say the Serie G Maduro Churchill from the sampler never disappoints.

A couple notes on the stick I’m smoking right now:

The ring gauge feels slim, maybe 38–40, but the wrapper is gorgeous—dark, toothy, and inviting.

The flavor profile is just stupendous: rich chocolate with that smooth creaminess that hangs on the palate.

My take? The cigars that go into these sampler boxes are the cream of the crop for presentation. The inspectors must know certain wrappers are too good not to include, regardless of size consistency.

So that’s my story—and I’d love to hear if anyone else has had the same “sampler magic” with Oliva or other brands. Sometimes those boxes just surprise you with cigars that smoke way above their weight.5045.jpgSu5047.jpg1755864370570.png

You know, while I'm a big fan of Oliva or RP seconds for my econosmokes these days, it never occurred to me that the opposite end of the spectrum might be true ... inspectors saved "firsts +" for these samplers. Makes perfect sense. I don't get them for that reason, but to, well, sample a line. But when these go on sale, I'm going to grab more of them

I picked up two of the one you picture from CP last month and plan to let them sit for a year. When they are on sale, I'll stock up on more of these. The higher quality idea makes perfect sense!

The first Oliva sampler I bought like over 10 years ago the serie V different vitolas. Every single cigar hit like a gem. But trying the sizes separetly (single sized boxes/wrapped samplers) im not a fan of every size the same way. That particular sampler was what really hooked me into oliva V. But now that I am curious I am going to look for that and smoke it and see if every vitoals still smoked superb. I have to put this theory further to the test. I will wait for antother coupon/oliva sale.

Am I the only person who noticed there has been more Oliva talk in the last 20 days than in the last 5 years on here?
It's neither here nor there, just an observation.

It around long enough to opine. But for the money it’s hard to beat Oliva value IMO. You can find better cigars and you can find cheaper cigars, but it’s damn hard to find a better cigar for less money than an Oliva. I feel similarity about Padron. Not the fancy schmancy stud, their regular line. Hard to beat them for value. IMO. YMMV.

especailly when you stack sales and coupons at CP on olivas prices. Its insane. I cant pass it up!

I have purchased that Oliva sampler a few times and I have always LOVED the Series G and the Series V. I am an absolute Maduro fanatic and love the overall flavor of most Maduros. I didnt know initially what to expect from the Series G originally the first time it tired it in the sampler, but I was impressed with quality and profile of this stick. Now I will pick up this box sampler whenever I see usually. Great quality and variety in this one!
