Well,

I gave my final presentation in the killer class today, walked out to the big lot to hop in my car and go home for lunch with my family but what do I see? Orange police traffic cones around my car and the car next to it. It looks like the guy who parked behind or next to me (it's unclear) somehow managed to ram it into the side of my 2002 WRX. I called the police officer on the business card stuck in my side window and now I have to wait for this bozo to come back so we can straighten this out.

The only thing I hate worse than car accidents is dealing with insurance companies. :angry2:  :angry2:

This sucks!

Wilkey

Edit: Things turned out fine and ol' blue is ok. Cheers to standup guys and police officers with a good sense of humor.

Man Wilkey I'm sorry to hear that you car was hit. Insurance companies do suck, I hope your deductible isn't too much and they know who hit your car.

Insurance compaines are people too! :(

Make sure you get the police report and also, read over it, make sure the blame is placed at the other car. Sounds like the report was done while you weren't even around and the officer just left his card, which is pretty bad. Whenever you are in a wreck, you should always speak with the police (I know you didn't know what was going on, if I was the other guy, I woulda waited on you to come out) and get a report. Just makes things easier.

Also, since a car, hit your parked car, which I'm sure was parked correctly in a parking lot, he shouldn't have to pay ANYTHING, and it should be the other guys fault.

Get the police report ;)

Sorry about your car wilkey. I know that's the "Thrill of your life". Was the damage bad? It sounds like you can still drive it.

Sorry you have to go through all the hassles associated with this type of incident.

Looks like KB has given some good advice, tho! (someone make a note of the time and date...)

Sorry, KB -- just yanking your chain. :p

Well, I guess the Christmas Spirit is doing its good work.

I'm back at home sitting in my basement office and eating dumplings. The owner of the other guy showed up as did another police officer and we straightened it out. Turns out he is a professor at UD and his car just slid over (on melting ice??) and into my fender well. Nice guy, very apologetic. The officer was super cool. Anyway, the plastic rim around my fender and the tire took a fair amount of the (gentle) impact so damage to the bodywork was very slight. I guess it just freaked me out to see another car, wedged into ol' blue.

We all shook hands, wished each other a safe and merry holiday.

I'm pretty happy with the way it all turned out and I hope that if you guys encounter some irksome circumstances this season that fate will be as kind.

Wilkey it coulda been worse. Once in high school the girl who parked behind me totally rammed my little hatchback car with her Jeep Grand Cherokee. I told the cop at school and he filed a report, the next day me, the cop, the girl, and her father were at the cars and the dad said there's no paint on his daughter's car. I said "well you've had it all night to work on", then the dad asked me if I'd ever been jumped... the cop stepped in. There's come nuts out there.

Glad it worked out though!

I had some jackoff run a light, rear end a car at 60MPH that got pushed into me when I was stopped at an intersection. The car looked pretty bad and the damage was over $10,000.00. :0 My insurance company took care of EVERYTHING.

Don't be so quick to slam the insurance companies. ;)

LMAO!!! Way to go John!!!
I'd say by her father's reaction, you were 100% right. ;) I'll bet he was up all night compounding, buffing and waxing! :p

I'll cheer you up -- at least you didn't have this happen to you.

Holy cow, Andrew! Thank god no one was under that when it came down. That ice looks a foot thick. :0 ...and what the hell are you doing parking a car like that outside of a garage in the winter??

KB,
That's psycho!

Bill,
Glad to hear your company took care of you. To be honest, my providers have always taken decent care of me. It's just the thought of having to go through the headache. A few years ago, I got rear-ended (while stopped at a light) by an 81-year old guy with bad vision who was barely aware of where he was. I wasn't as much angry as sad for him. This was probably going to cost him his license and his mobility. But in this case, I think the greater public good was served.

I'm glad you weren't in the car that took the direct hit. That would have sucked.

Wilkey

Sorry to hear about your car. I second the thing about insurance companies. A lady totaled my car... her insurance gave me a rental car and had a check to me in two weeks for everything I could ask for moneywise.

Sorry to hear about your car -
Yesterday I got rear ended - I went to the auto body - cost was going to be $ 600 to fix the scratches ( 1998 ls 400 ) - I called the guy who hit me and said instead of spending $ 600, just send me $ 125 and we will call it even - he said no, I want my insurance company to handle this - so - I guess I will have $ 600 to spend on some nice cigars

From one to WRX'r to another. I feel your pain, Wilkey.

Glad it was resolved peacefully. Now if you were only IN the car when this happened we could fit you with a niiice little neck brace. ;)
