I got the call from the wife last night "the heater in the truck isn't working" :0 :angry2: :( ....OH @#&&$*)@(*&^!!!!!

Mind you it's been in the teens and 20's around here in the daytime and single digits at night. I'm thinking "great! How much $$$ and BS is this gonna cost!"

I absolutley hate working on cars almost as much as I hate paying someone else by the hour to do it for me. I really am not too good at it either, but so far have changed the front brakes, the alternator, and a few other minor little maintenance type items. :D Fortunetly for me I have a somewhat retired mechanic in the family. So I called him last night and concluded that it was likley the blower motor.

This morning I called around and discovered this was somewhat common and was only about $39.99 for the part. Even better was that it was somewhat easy to get to and I could likely do it myself. So after about 2 hours of tearing up my hands trying to reach under the dash and a whole lot of 4 letter words...it's done.....and BONUS!! it works too!!!

Problem solved...

Total cost:

New blower motor for 1998 Ford F-150=$40.00
Gas to and from the local parts store=$5.00
Realizing that I once again escaped the wrath of my local mechanic and his bill for possibly hundred's of dollars worth of my already limited cigar budget...PRICELESS!! :D

Thank God I know how to work a socket wrench!

Now, off to Stevehawk's house for a celebratory stick! Because I can, that's why!!

I'm glad to hear it worked out for you Kilt. I've been lucky enough to handle basic stuff on my car. But when the crankcase gasket went, I bent over and took it like a man (who didn't have any friends who were practicing mechanics :D)

Wilkey

What I hate is when a $.05 part goes out and your car just can't seem to run without it.What's worse is in the shop, that $.05 part comes along with the $100 in labor.

I had a fuseable link go out on my chevy a week ago. $4 part, hard as hell to trace it down. It took 1 1/2 hrs. of trying everything else before I decided to check the link...

Glad you got your's fixed Kilt.

Good job. I love working on cars. I particularly salute your success in such cold temperatures.
