Mold or Plume?

I recently received a "special" of ten cigars from one of the well known vendors. At least one of the ten cigars has a splotch of white on the end that appears to be mold. I wrote to the vendor and they were sympathetic to an extent:

The only color mold would be on a cigar is green. If it is green, I'd be happy to setup a return for you.

It seems that mold can also be white.

I would like to hear the learned opinion of others - Is this mold or Plume?. Here is photo I took of the cigar. I don't have a telephoto lens, so the photo is not as good as it could be. With a hand held magnifying glass, it looks like little white threads:

Thanks - Rick
I wouldn't smoke that cigar with Tom36's mouth! :D

A final note on these cigars with the mold. A few folks were curious where I got them from and I was reluctant to share that information until I gave the vendor a chance to work with me on a return.

The vendor was Cigars International, www.cigarsinternational.com, and I'm happy to report that after a couple of emails they sent me a free return mailer and credited my account.

In general, I check all cigars before I buy them, or after I receive them in the mail. Perhaps I'm too cautious, but I rather not introduce mold into one of my humidors.

Except for this one incident, all of the cigars I have received form CI have been in good condition.

Mold happens. A vendor selling you cigars that have mold on them doesn't mean a whole lot. What matters is what they do after the fact in terms of taking care of you.

CI's customer service seems to be pretty good to go as I've had a fiver damaged in shipping before and they took care of me.
The worst case of mold I've seen was an Opus X that someone wanted me to "revive" for them. The white hair on the foot is not a sign that it's aged, just porous and moldy. Glad they took care of ya.
