We moved into this apartment 4 months ago, and are well settled in. The Landlord has decided to up the rent by 11.5% to 600 dollars a week,so we are moving out of here....
I really hate shifting around, packing and repacking. But we have to.
So we don't have a new place to go to as yet, but our friend has kindly offered for us to move in with him until we find a new place(thank goodness).
So at least we will have a semi permanent postal address.
All our furniture and stuff has to go into storage, including my Humidors, so I had to find somewhere that allows me to go and check my beads moisture quite regularly. Which we have.
Now comes the fun part of changing addresses again, and organising a truck and labour to move everything. (money money money)
This renting game sucks, and I am starting to really look forward to having enough money saved to retire back to my home in New Zealand.

But I guess it ain't all bad. We still have good jobs and reasonably good health(LOL)

600 bucks a week OUCH!!. I thought the real estate market was out of control in Brisbane, but Sydney must be incredible. In the town where I live you can rent a 4 bedroom house thats 5 minutes walk from the beach for $250 a week. Beautiful place only 800 residents, 16km of unspoiled beach and kangaroos literally hop down the street, I'm serious there are more roos than people here.

Google "woodgate beach" if you're interested.

That sucks. If there is one thing that I hate most, it's moving. Over the years, not only have I had to move a few times, but my two sisiters and mother have each moved several times and I have had to do nearly everything. I hope things work out for ya.

Sorry to hear about the situation Dave. I sure hope the housing/rental market is not effecting you down south like it is here in the states. Good luck on the move bro. Hope you find a place soon.

Have you told the parrot yet? Imagine his surprise when he shows up and you aren't there with a cigar and a camera.

Sorry to hear about the move, good luck with it.

Sounds like heaven.

Holy crapola. $600 a week is major cash outlay. Good luck with finding a more suitable place where the green is less mean. Ditto on the moving disdain as well.

We pay $220 a week for a restored cottage from 1885. It has 3 bedrooms, lounge, study, kitchen, bathroom, laundry and a fairly big backyard. SA is pretty good for rental still, but even here people are struggling to find vacancies.

Out of curiosity, I've seen three BOTLs from Down Under reply in this thread and all three pay by the week. Is that customary down there? I only ask because the apartments I've rented here in the States go by the month. Just thought I'd ask, and good luck with the move.

Weekly or Biweekly.
Depends on your lease mate

I have moved a ton in the past couple of years. So I know your pain. I bought a place last year and hopefully will be there a couple of years now. Good luck with the move.
