Ok, so this is kind of a funny story. Shortly after joining CP a few years ago, I stumbled across a Tower of Power cabinet humidor on Craigslist. I just had to have it and I knew there was no way I could possibly ever outgrow it. Well, that lasted about as long as a fart in a wirlwind. So fast forward to late 2015 and the poor thing was stuffed to the brim, to the point that I had four desk tops and three coolidors as overflow (I blame CP for creating the monster I have become). So I did what any reasonable cigar enthusiast in my position would do...I set out to build another cabinet. Near the beginning of December, I found this on Craigslist and began dissecting it. My plans were to insulate it and cool it with a thermoelectric cooling unit.

So I had spent a few days working on it when December 13th rolled around and it was time to go to my wife's company Christmas party. While at the party, I got to talking with one of her co-workers who I know is a regular cigar smoker and an avid woodworker. I tell him about the cabinet I was converting and he proceeds to tell me he has a cigar cabinet at home that he is planning on tearing apart so he can use the spanish cedar from it for another project. I quickly ask if he would be willing to consider trading the intact humidor for some kiln dried spanish cedar planks that I have at home. This would be a win-win for both of us. He was more than happy with the offer. I went to his house a few days before Christmas and was surprised to see a brand new, never used, large cabinet humidor sitting in his garage. Once I saw it, I couldn't believe he was planning on tearing it apart. He said it was given to him by a friend who owns a B&M. It was too big for what he needed and his wife would not let him bring it into the house. So he helped me load it up and away I went with my new prize. I quickly hooked up my Avallo Accumonitor system and got my collection moved into the new cabinet with just enough time to give my old cabinet to my best bud for Christmas. He had been lusting after a Tower of Power for quite some time and he nearly cried when I gave it to him.

PS- Sorry for the lengthy post.

Very nice! Three people happy in one swoop. Gotta love it.

Very nice! And an even nicer collection!!

Good story with a happy ending....:D. I love happy endings.

YOU HIT THE CIGAR WORLD LOTTO! Congrats on the win brother.

Paul

Thanks Paul. I sure feel like I did. I was obviously very excited about the humidor and the way things worked out right before Christmas.

Thanks brothers for all the kind comments.

Wow. Cigar porn at its best. Great collection and congratulations

Yeah, I love 'em as much as the next guy but I'm not so sure three dudes should be involved in the same happy endingo_O

Edit: grammer
I cast no stones and make no judgments, but it's good that all involved got their humidors in order.

How do you like your little black hygrometers, I got 2 in my humidor and love them. Not bad for $8 at Wallyworld.

I was a little hesitant to buy them initially because they can't be manually calibrated, but for the price it was worth the risk.

I've the two of them for a couple years now and they perform flawlessly. I've done the salt test on them a few times and they are always within a percentage point or two of what they should read. For they money, they can't be beat.
