As many of you know, my son was born early (34 weeks) on Nov. 5th, however, he had fairly immature lungs even for this age. This resulted in him immediately being intubated and sent to the NICU. It was really tough on us, but we received a lot of congratulations and words of encouragement from the wonderful members here. Plus, a really nice box of R&J glass tubed "It's a boy" cigars from cigar1993 -- thanks again!
Anyway, I just wanted to post the follow-up (as several had asked). We were able to take him home fairly late last night and although hectic, it was wonderful to have him home. Seeing him sleeping this morning in his little bassinet made all the many many trips to the hospital for the last 12 days worth it. It's truly amazing (even to me as a doctor) to think that just over one week ago he was on a ventilator and receiving his "nutrition" through an IV, and now he's home! Although it has been tough and it will cost a fortune, we are really fortunate and thankful for how good we have it. This is the best Christmas present I could have hoped for.
Again, thanks to everyone here, this is great place to be!
