There has been a lot of change in my life lately. A new job and a new house in early May, and a new baby boy born on June 2nd. I've had a lot of great reasons to smoke some great cigars, but unfortunately, not a lot of time to smoke them! And it's also hard to break out those very few, very rare cigars that I have. Is it possible to have a cigar too good to smoke?

How do you guys know when it's time to break out a good one?

Also, any advice for a new again dad on how to manage a daughter who is obviously advanced for her age because she's hitting her terrible twos a few months early, and a new son who insists on being fed every 3 hours, whether it's the middle of the night or not? I need some sleep!

Things get worse. They turn into teenagers. Enjoy these times while you can.

Doc.

Hi there, Gumbeaux,

Congratulations on all the positive changes happening. I hear you about having plenty of cigars but too little time to smoke 'em. Just makes me relish all the more those times I do get to smoke.

Too good to smoke? Naaaaaaah. If a new baby boy ain't reason enough, you need a new hobby. ;) Honestly, it's time to spark up a special stick when the spirit moves you. Just remember, the sticks are there to give you pleasure and they really can only do so when they're on fire. :D

As for an infant who needs to feed frequently even at night...breastfeeding! Nudge the wife and you're done. Precocious "terrible twos" is not so bad as when your child gets them at 3 years of age. My daughter is stronger, smarter, louder and more persistent. Yup, the terrible twos are nothing compared to the killer threes.

Congrats Gumbeaux! I have three new life events as well....new wife, new baby, new job and life is grand!!!!

I have an amazing wife that needs no nudging to feed the baby and I get to get a nice "alone-time smoke" in occasionally. Helps clear the head and keeps life in perspective.

Or you can look at it as Zorba does, "Am I not a man, and is not a man stupid. I am married. Wife, Children, the whole catastrophe!"

Listen to Wilkey, because life is too short to watch them sit.......the cigars that is.

Grats on all the good stuff Gumbeaux!

Too good to smoke? I have a few that I thought fell in that category, but then every now and then I say, what the hell, it's a cigar and it's meant to be smoked.

As for the frequent feeding...hmmm...well back in Germany we were taught by their hosipital staff, after the birth of our daughter, to give them an oz. or two of sugar water in between feedings if they want something.

Somebody once told me ... don't "wait" for those special occasions to enjoy that good bottle of wine, open it tonight and "make" it a special occasion.

I've been following this same advice with cigars. For at least a year now, I've been making Thursdays my special occasion cigar days. I'm already trying to figure out what I'm going to smoke.

Oh, congratulations on all the special occasions :whistling:

God made closets for small children who make too much noise. Just don't over do it. ;)

Congrats man on all of the blessings.
Never can be a cigar too good to smoke. That's what they are meant for, and as others have said, whenever you get the urge, fire it up and savor it. You never know what tomorrow may bring, and it would be an awful waste to have never had the chance to enjoy them at all.
