Screw PETA! (unless it's 'People Eating Tasty Animals!)

I got this coin in a Chinese Gift Exchange at work yesterday... and LOVE it! In case you didn't know, PETA and other animal groups are trying to arrange boycotts of Alaska tourism due to predator control programs up here run by our Fur Fins and Feathers dept. So far no one has noticed even the slightest difference in tourist levels... go figure. People actually CAN think for themselves...

You think that's bad? There's some idiots around here in New England that want to reintroduce wolves. The coyotes have already decimated the snowshoe hare and white tail rabbit populations and reek havoc with yarded up deer in the winter. Fools!

Doc.

Doc, my guess is that if the native wolf populations hadn't been eradicated, that we wouldn't have the coyote issues we have now. And the deer population, at least in CT, needs many more hunters (either two or four-legged) to control it than we have now.

Not saying that I'm necessarily in favor of wolf reintroduction here, but we knocked things out of balance to begin with, so I'm not sure that folks who suggest an idea that might rebalance things are idiots on their faces.

'Sides, it might get some of the crunchier hiker types (of which I am one) out there to become supporters of Amendment II (of which I am also one) if they thought the big dogs were out there. :)

edited to add:

The coin is a freekin' hoot!

if you look at were the wolf has been reintroduced it has done nothing but reek havoc on the environment. as for coyotes it has been estimated that a 1/3 of the population is coy-dogs (interbred with domestic dogs).
As for the crunchy types watch that movie about the idiot grizzly man. most of the over population of whitetails occurs in built up suburban areas were the idiots feed the deer then ban hunting and after a few years hire professional hunters at about 100,000 to come thin the herd.

The catch there is tax payer dollars pay for the herd thinning and if they had a open bow or black powder season they would generate tax dollars off of special permit sales. Another problem with herd control is most hunters want buck's you cannot control a herd by hunting bucks a majority of the cull must be does and fawns to have a serious impact.

PETA is a bunch of idjits, they bitch about everything. Recently they wrote a letter of protest when the NBA switched back to leather b-balls.

Be careful with PETA and the fish feel pain stuff. Most Americans are not aware that there was a landmark case here in Germany where a PETA type group filed suit against the Government and won. The result of this case was the animal nature protection act that bans catch and release dictates how fish should be killed and kept and mandates a 60 hr course for all fisherman prior to licensing.

The facts are fish cannot feel pain because there are not any nerve ending in their lips however a judge sided with the protectionists and passed this into law. The American court system is looking more and more to international law to find ways to socialize our system so be aware.

I just read through this thread and it reminded me of this ........

Now no way in hell would I buy anything that would generate revenue for PETA, but Jesus that would make funny T-shirt to wear while cleaning my catch LOL.

It's bad enough that our youth doesn't understand where their food comes from that groups like PETA can use cartoons and Disney characters to diminih sports like fishing and hunting. (In my best nagging PETA voice) "I like to eat fish, I just don't want you to be able to catch them." They should just let us hunt PETA members and get it overwith!

I wonder how long it will be before I can't squish the unlucky spider that creeps into the house because it had a feeling.

Be vewy vewy quiet... I'm hunting morons... E. Fudd
