The wife and I are going out to dinner at a local place with a cigar room with another couple to celebrate the transition into a New Year. With New Year's Eve only a couple weeks off I have started thinking about bringing something special to share with the other husband, and was wondering what you guys are thinking of lighting up for the occasion.

I have the list I'm considering down to:
Short Story
Cohiba Robusto
RyJ Short Churchill
CAO MX3 (Drapers)
Or...buy something there?

All are shorter smokes. Hate to leave the ladies alone for too long on a "special date" night.

Can't go wrong with a AF Short Story! I'll be at work when the new year arrives, but I think I'll be firing up either a Padron 1926 #9, or an Opus X Petite Lancero with some good age on it, courtesy of a fellow brother here.

I know there are a few sticks in the hemi that need to be sacrificed to the fire god. I'd say a Tat Black tubo but I think the smoke buddy, Charles would, have my ass in a sling so I think I will settle on the Anejo No 77 I was saving for the birthday. But back to the question at hand, I'd have to say the short story.

Foolio, you went in halvies on those, who am I to say you can't smoke 'em? Save the #77 for the birthday!

You want to share something special then go with the Cohiba. Unless you already know he's just going to waste it (take a puff then throw it away).

I have no idea what I'll smoke until the time comes. I know we'll have a big 'ol pot of black eyed peas with hamhocks cookin' most of the day, some collards with a slab of fatback, a boston butt in the crock pot, biscuits, etc. I might be too full to smoke! :D

Nah.

If you are sharing cigars with another on a special occassion...like New Years, i would go with the CoRo. Can't go wrong. As far as what i will be smoking...well...it will depend on the weather. If it is a nice night out (temperature wise) which I doubt, then I will likely go with a larger vitola. If not, then a short smoke. Maybe I will compromise and light up a Padron 1926 No. 9 as i have a handful tht have been sitting around for almost a year.

Is there a cigar bar etiquete?

I figured the $50 steaks would be enough support. :whistling:

O yeah! I think your good then  I myself have never been to a cigar bar, just thought it would be proper. Have a great time and Happy early New Year.

Cigar bar prices are generally super jacked up. I've never seen them have a problem with you bringing your own. Sometimes they charge a cutting fee, which could be $5-10, but you'll still come out ahead if you are smoking a $15-20 cigar that they want $40-60 for. They'll make plenty of money off of me with beer and scotch.

I have no idea what I will smoke for new years... I'll be traveling, so it'll be something from my travel humi, maybe a lfd salomon.

I have a feeling I won't be smoking anything come NYE. The weather here's been just too damn cold to enjoy anything, and the lack of humidity may wreak havoc on a good smoke. Just yesterday the last city I was living in, Edmonton, had the coldest temperature in all of North America. -46.1[sup]o[/sup]C ambient temperature, not counting what it felt like with the windchill (-51[sup]o[/sup]F for the sane folks living... well... anywhere warmer than here!)

Anyone hiring surveyors somewhere warm, like Las Vegas, Texas, Hawaii??

I think your Short Churchill should be sacrificed by fire.

Hopefully, I'll be smoking my Davidoff No. 1 and Dunhill Mojito in celebration of my little one's arrival. :)
