Anyone ever try a New York Egg Cream? I was at a deli recently and they had this on the menu, so I decided to try making it myself.

Easy to make. Add about an inch of chocolate syrup to the glass, and a few inches of half and half. Mix it up well, and then fill glass with cold seltzer water (slowly). Stir, and drink through a straw. Pretty tasty.

Not a big fan but they should be made with milk and Fox's U-Bet Chocolate Syrup. But I haven't tried one in years, may have to try one again.

I heard about Fox's, however I think it's on the east coast only. I've never seen it out here.

Rod egg creams are good. It is getting very hard to get a good one or even a place that makes them.

Yes, it's between a chocolate soda and a light chocolate shake.

Tony - I read some of the history on Fox's website. Too bad a good one is hard to come by. Guess it's like everything else, quality is slipping across the board.

And Tone knows. He used to ride his dinosaur to the candy store all the time for an egg cream.
Yes had several to choose from but alas no more. Very sad kind of like smoking the last cigar in the box of your favorites. Both the ride and the egg creams.

When I was a little kid my dad used to drive me---just me, as I remember it---into town for chocolate sodas at the Woolworth's. Good memories.  I don't think they did egg creams, though.

Wow! Thanks! :) Can't wait to try it. Very generous of you my friend.

Why is it called an egg cream?  Does it taste like a Cadbury Egg?
