It was my first time with a reporter and he asked me some questions i wasnt expecting. Then acused me of hateing fish so I explained to him why did not expect him to use it.These are not mutants they just get big is all.Wilkey was happy to make you laugh not so happy about the article though. some of those words were slightly adlibbed on his part I never said thats a lot of eating and he asked me if I hated catfish.

That's not right. Perhaps you should demand a retraction and/clarification. If this reporter is playing fast and loose with your words, then that is not kosher at all. Especially since you are speaking in an official capacity.

unfortanately he did not mis quote me just used it out of context so I cant do a thing.To be honest it would just make things worse nothing really bad in there just embarrasing and it will get the ecco nuts fired up. What will be interesting is the letters to the editor this will spawn thats were i will get death threats and stuff.

I think it was a pretty good article. Didn't they catch a catfish in Asia recently that weighed over 300 pounds, correct me if i'm wrong. Since i've never catched anything bigger than 15 pound pike I can't imagine catching a 50 pound 2 meters long fish, would be neat though

I've seen pictures of catfish that weighed in at 100 lbs. Yeah you can say they get big when given enough time to climb up the food chain.

Luckily, I was beginning to think if a 50 pound is 2 meters is a 300 pound 10 meters? :laugh: lol, that would be one scary catfish and it would still be neat to catch a fish that big

aparently the newspaper folks do not understand how to convert metrics.They did the conversion not me. 1 yard is rough equivelent to a meter in other words 3ft. 1kg equals roughly 2.2 pounds.But hey it is in the newspaper they check all of their facts hehe.

8 foot bird and rodent eating catfish are not unknown in the bayous. They're rare because of predators like aligators (and humans) that keep them in check.

I learned my lesson with reporters a long time ago. Luckily, few find interest in my mundane life these days.

Reporters can come into an interview already knowing what they want you to say. The good ones are experts at leading you to say things that they can twist into whatever they want. I have a friend who plays football for Texas A&M who has ended up in a couple similar situations.

sounds like you've got monsters in that lake! i agree with you that the catfish will burden the lake rather than help it. a catfish eating water fowl must be a sight to see. i know i wouldn't fish there!
