I have a question, sometimes when I smoke an Opus, ESG, or GOF I experience some numbness in my lips. It's not bad, it's just that it doesn't always happen. Any idea why it is present sometimes and nonexistent the next?

From one Jeff/Geoff to another - I've had a similar experience in the past, not fully numb but a bit of tingling. It usually happens when I get the taste of Cinnamon, nutmeg, and or oranges. I know that one time I was eating an orange at the same time I was smoking a cigar and another was when I was also drinking some strong, spicy coffee. I have no idea what triggers it though, maybe very oily wrappers and binders? Awhile back there was a cigar from Mexico (yeah I know! only decent Mexican cigar) called Madrigal that would do this all the time. Maybe it was the Paraquat or some DDT over spray? :0
I think this calls for a scientific taste test!!!!! :sign:

I had the same thing happen to me just recently. I picked up a few pardons, a 2k, 3k and 5k. Smoked the 3k.. awesome. Then I smoked the 5k a few days later and it definitely made my mouth numb, not tingly like nicotine can make it, but more like that dentist taste of Novocaine right after she gives you the shot.

btw jeff.. Im down for the taste test, lets find out whats going on :p

Damn, kodiak. I know there are words on the screen but for the life of me, I can't seem to focus!

Nice avatar.

LOL Paraquat!

Do you guys think it could be the tar? I usually get the numbness when its a cigar with a high tar content.

I think Wurm may have a point. I thought about it a bit more and remember the tingling with Santa Rosa's but then again I would get it with Fonseca 5-50s from the late 80's and early 90's. Tar sounds like a good premise.

I'm in for the "Numbness Taste Test!"

well somthing could be wrong w/ your cigars. Uhhhh i think the best thing to do here is send them to me for further testing. LOL

One of the pharmacologic effects of nicotine is blood vessel constriction in the mouth and gums, and it also has a mild topical anesthetic effect, like cocaine.

I notice the same sort of numbness/tingling after certain smokes

As I read this, I thought was going to see:

I notice the same sort of numbness/tingling after snorting an especially long line.

Heehee. . . that's agin' the law, unless you're in California and can get one of those rare compassionate use prescription cards from socially conscious M.D.s like me. We take VISA and MC.
