Hey Gang!
Off on 10 days vacation- off to fish my BRAINS out (not claiming that I have any brains, mind you... :whistling: )

Will be in and out here, as Homer Alaska does have internet access, but I'll be a little busy, me thinks!

Loaded Smokey Jr. (my cigar caddy :p ) with the following:

Padron '26 #6
Cuesta Rey Centenario Sun Grown
Rocky Patel SG
AF XtraViejo #46
OpusX FuenteFuente
Trinidad Robusto
CAO Crillo
RyJ Cedros Deluxe #3
HdM Petit Robusto
Cohiba Siglo I
RASS

And for the wifey-
CAO Blondie
CAO Karma Sutra (gotta love that name!! ;) )
CAO Gold Honey
Acid Kuba

Hopefully I'll get the chance to enjoy them all, but smoking at my sisters house is a big no-no ue to my brother-in-laws BAD asthma. But there are beaches to walk on, boat harbors to wander (and drool over boats!) and my truck if all else fails!

Maybe I'll even catch a fish or two... I'll see if I can remembe the camera this time!
See y'all!

Enjoy the fishing and your wife, Jim! Hope all goes well and the anniversary thing goes as planned. Maybe you should have included a Forbidden X in there :sign:

Have a great time Jim! What? no acids?

Actually, I may sub an acid in there- I just realized there was none in there and she needs to try them all out. So here's a substitution-

take out- CAO Moontrance
Put in - Acid Kuba

And I'll try to get her to report on her 'findings'!

Thanks... as long as the weather holds and the ferry (zodiak!) can get us to the lodge all will be fine- she still has no clue (about the dinner that is...)

And if I had a Forbidden X I prolly would have brought it! I can see it now... 'Gee dear- I smoked a Forbidden X... now lets try something forbidden ourselves!'

Maybe I will try this (she won't know it's not a forbidden x) and have a contest afterwards to see who gets closest to her reply to me!

Describe to me what that CAO Moontrance tastes like? We just got those in my local cigar shop. I'm not a flavored cigar person at all.

Swissy, that is one contest that I will not take part in. :p Happy Anni! Enjoy your holiday and be safe.

The Moontrance is my wife's current favorite cigar. I usually pick her up a handfull of the small tubes. I tried one on a couple occasions. I gotta tell you, CAO knows how to make a good cigar - even their flavored ones. The flavor is definitely mild, but they smell and taste better than the Acid Blondies my wife used to smoke. It's a cigar I wouldn't mind smoking in a pinch.

BTW Swissy - momma now thinks the Karma Sutra is the best (it's the Mango flavored one)! Good luck on your trip!!!

Well Jim, If you're going to Homer, you can take the skiff out, put a hook on the bottom, and light up while you catch (drift over) some halibut. Yum!

Update!
Man, the weather here is GREAT! Sunny, warm (by Homer standards) and the beer is flowing! Had a nice ISOM on the beach today, and ate some fresh 'but for dinner. Man, life just doesn't get any better...

Going out DEEP for the big halibut tomorrow, and with luck I'll get a king on the way back. Even if we get skunked, I'll be ok since I have growlers offresh Homer Brewery 'China Poot Porter' and my little box of friends, 'Smokey Jr.'!

But I'm saving the Padron '26 for the Derby winner...

if anyone cares (I don't) I'm keeping an Online Log
(cigar's here)

Aren't you going to try to snag...er, catch a few silvers over at "The Pond" or is it too early for them yet?

Cigars sure do have a way of becoming a big part of a vacation...enjoy yours, and keep up the fine reports!

OMG Stop it! you're killing me. I haven't been to Kenai in 5 years. Man I miss it! (and 'but is my favorite fish, and the cheek is the best part  ) Hope ya catch a barn door and don't forget to post some pic's.

Sorry ex-general sir,
hate to disappoint you but we bailed on the flat fish in hopes of more King salmon. Since the halibuts are 'round all year, and the Kings only run now, we went to a new area and this was the result...

3 very nice, fat Kings!! One was even the uncommon 'white' king, named so because it's flesh is white instead of red. Supposed to be very, very tasty. I'll let you know tomorrow! ;)

Maybe 'buts tomorrow... but if the Kings are still biting.... :whistling: I have my deep water charter on Saturday so that's my fall back for Halibut... plus I'll be here at least 4-5 more times this year.

Gotta run- internet cafes here are $$$$$$ Off for the celebratory smoke!

Nope... no way... not a chance... are you NUTS?!?!?!
That place is a great place to stay away from... WAY too many people there. I saw a guy hook a fish, and when it ran down the bank and towards all the other people fishing, his buddy was running in front cutting all the other fishing line so it wouldn't tangle up. I swear I thought I was going to witness my first murder... I hate crowds and avoid them at all costs, so I go out boating, and with any luck catch a few that way. I used to go 'combat fishing' but no more.

But the Kings are in there a little, and the Silvers will be in late July/August.
