As a punishment to the board for not posting anything new in the time it took me to drive to Dunkin' Donuts, come back, and drink half of my medium iced latte; I post the following two observations I made during that trip:

Topic 1: DD Iced Lattes, not that good.
I regret not following my initial desire for an iced coffee. The first 1/3 was a very raw milky taste, no sweetness what so ever. It has improved in the middle now that I am picking up some caramel. How will it finish, who knows?

Topic 2 (something we can all agree on): Tall girls in short skirts combined with a side view mirror is the new black.

edit: I've now finished the latte, it concluded with heavy notes of caramel and whipped topping.

I hate DD coffee...every cup I've ever had tastes like it's from the bottom of the pot. I try to kill the taste with Splenda and creamer, but that just makes it nastier. Their donuts are ok, but nothing like KK! mmmmmmm

Definately agree on Topic 2!

I love Krispy Kreme donuts, the nearest one is an hour away. On my last trip to Cali, I bought a dozen 10 hours before my flight and they still tasted better than a DD 2 days after I came home.

oh ya KK donuts are the best either when they come off the assy line or like 2-3 days later... mmm i love california

I hate to be the voice of dissent here, but based on my several years of being a donut connoisseur (my Grandfather was a baker for 75 years and I was raised on his baked goods), I'll take a local mom & pop bakery's donuts over KK or DD any day of the week and twice on Sunday (sometimes three on Sunday) :).

Good donuts are very difficult to obtain through mass production. The time and care it takes to produce really good donuts just cannot be reproduced with a machine. Most of the mass produced donuts I've had all taste pretty much the same.

This is all just my opinion, and I'll eat any donut anytime if necessary (or if simply presented to me). But my preferences lie with donuts produced entirely by experienced hands.

:)

I have tried several local places with no success. They all seem to prefer the cake-like donut texture. I prefer ultra sweet air filled donuts. As long as new donut shops open in the area, I will be there trying their goods.

Homemade donuts, fried in lard. Almost impossible to find. :( So I make them myself. You got to die of something. ;)

Doc.

Just like the quest for the perfect cigar. It's all about the journey...

Grab first.....
*cough* what?
ok youre right a bit creepy

bigvinnysd, what the hell is wrong with you? We're having a serious adult conversation regarding looking at women's panties through the use of a car mirror and you have to bring it down to a childish level. Take your sick antics to another thread. For shame.

edit: to add a sarcasm disclaimer, just in case anyone needs it

In high school, I worked at the donut shop that my father owned. :p

He was on the police force at the time. He would stop in every morning and pick up a box to take in to work. Made him quite popular.

We would always have a bunch of 2 day old donuts to give away. Made me quite popular. ;)

I'll take local shop 2 day olds to the big chain's fresh any day.
