I am an Old Fart ???

Ah, those were the days, pop a nickle in the machine, turn the big handle and grab a DP in a bottle. No twist tops, had to pop it off with the opener on the pop dispensor. But I loved the real cork liners in the cap. Then for a dime I could get a bag of peanuts to dump in the bottle.

Man I hate growing up :(
 
At 48 I have experience with all but three, the coffe shop with the jukebox was for kids just a bit older, no Packards and alas no newsreels. I remember well the coke bottles that were dispensed from the machine. My grandfather owned a gas station and he would give us nickels for handsfull of cashews (which to this day I think smell like and oily rag) and dimes for the soda that slid out of the racks inside the chest type soda machine. White Castles were only a dime and they were fast food for that time, until McD's came along. I guess I'm truly an old fart. Must go now and get dried apricots and prunes.
 
I grew up in a Backwoods, jerkwater town that didn't even have a single traffic light. Some of the things that city boys never got to see were still in use back home. :thumbs:
