About 35 miles from where I currently live , America's worst commercial nuclear accident occurred inside the Unit Two reactor at the Three Mile Island plant near Middletown, Pa. You can read the NRC summery here.

Wow, I'm glad I don't live too close to one of those nuke-yah-ler plants....or do i?

I was serving aboard a nuclear powered submarine at the time. I recall our nuke guys being baffled at just how that could happen.

I don't remember the event (since I didn't exist), but have lived in the "red" zone for almost 10 years now. I have gone fishing on the banks near TMI quite a bit. Seems that fish like the warm water from the plant or something. Lots of good fishing to be had. I haven't caught a single fish with more than 2 eyes yet!

I was 8 years old when this happened. I recall being paranoid about anything nuclear at that time, especially with the Cold War cloud still over our heads then. I was convinced, for some reason, that I would be dead due to a nuclear war at the age of 13. I must have been read too much Orwell or something. Anyhoo, I am glad that time has come and gone. Thanks for posting this AVB, and the picture of the Springfield 3-eyed fish!
