Onyx - Threw it away before lighting

Okay, so it's getting late and I'm looking for a quick smoke and find an Onyx cigar in my humi. Took it out of it's cello and gave it a big whiff - and ass crack comes to mind immediatley. What a horrific smell, smelled just like a finger that poked thru toilet paper during the process of wiping.

So, I threw it a away and pulled out a Fuente.

Just curious any else ever toss a cigar before lighting?
 
i haven't yet, even if it's a shitty smoke, i'll smoke at least 1.5"-2" of it before tossing, i dont like to waste money, so i'll try and enjoy it.
 
Never have had a Onyx do that, I always keep them on hand. I've had a few mexican cigars taste like shit but never smell like shit.
 
Well then, next time I'll offer it up to you guys instead of tossing. :p

It's actually the first time I ever did that.
 
I've smoked a few Onyx Reserves and they definently didn't smell like shit. Weren't that bad tasting for a cheapy either.
 
I have one of these in my 5ct at the moment, not sure what vitola, but it is stinking up my caddy. The thing just plain ol' smells like ass.

tasman smoked one the other night and threw it out half way through. I'll definitely give it a chance to light up and prove me wrong, but the smell is just nasty. I hear ya on that one bro.

I had a bad experience with an Onyx Lonsdale Maduro. It was this wierd rubber fire smell, it's hard to explain.

I didn't throw it out though, about halfway through, either the smell went away or I stopped being concious to it. The taste wasn't that bad either.
 
My gurkha genghis khan chirchills smelled like desiccated dog turd, but it didn't taste all that bad. For $3+ a stick, i'll at least start the stick.

I don't know if it was just that cigar or not. But it was the worse gar I have had. Straight up dog turd! :angry:
 
I've never thrown away a cigar before lighting it up. However, I have saved up smokes I didn't want and given them away.

As for the Onyx Reserve...I don't think very highly of these. Stinky and tastes bad.

Didnt like the Onyx I had this weekend,my first too.No doo taste though.
I have a box of monte peruvian maduro flor de lance's that smell exactly like shit..............potent shit too I may add but the cigars taste very sweet and I wouldnt toss them for anything....well maybe for something.

I like 'em too. The cardboard gives them sort of a flat, funky stench.

Sure! :D

I haven't had one of these smokes in about 6 months or so. I thought they were pretty good, and definitely didn't think they smelled like ass. I'm not sure if something has changed recently and they have a bad batch or what. They even rated highly in Cigar Aficianado, not that that means a whole hell of a lot. Different strokes ... cuz I can't stand those Monte Peruvian smokes.
 
Now I've heard it all. :laugh: I've heard of cigars having a "barnyard" smell, but never essence of outhouse!! :laugh: :laugh:
